Thanks Zema!! I appreciate that!! It might be slightly difficult along with wedding planning, being a full time mom and full time LPN..but if you want to get past the chasm you find a way around it or just jump right?? ;) |

Wow, I wish you all the luck in completing this study. The nurses that I know here on USM, really seem to enjoy their occupation. What area of nursing will you be going into after you graduate? |

Thanks..I'm not really sure Ginger..right now I'm an LPN in a nursing home and had been a CNA for almost 7 years prior to being a nurse..and I enjoy it at most times but there are times when I know that I don't want to work in that setting for the rest of my life and need to do something different for a while..in LPN school I LOVED maternity..but I'm also highly interested in psychology and loved being a CNA on the neurobehavioral unit, so it would be interesting to be a nurse in that area.. |

AO as for my own experience, while I was a full time student at LPN school I actually tried working full time as well- when I found that was more difficult than I had anticipated I was forced to cut down my gours to 12 hour shifts every weekend..fortunately I was lucky enough to work in a facility that offered me a monthly stipend and which paid for my books, tuition, etc...but there was the allowance that I would in return commit myself to working for them for two years after I earned my LPN...I would look into (if you're not in one now) finding a place of employment related to that field and finding out if they would be willing to hire you on in a position like receptionist/CNA or the like with the option of becoming an MA there after your schooling and if they would then consider helping you through school and what type of help they would offer...you can also look into where you currently work and see if even if it meant losing you as an employee if they would help you out..look into college loans and grants, specifically those for single moms..there are scholarships and the like available..it takes alot of time and work..and it's definitely not easy..but you can do it!! I know you can..if I can , anyone can!! |
