The Price of Gas in Paris, France

I think I went to Paris on April 23th.. However, the whole week I was there dates really weren't important to me, but really, just think of this as the price of gas during the one of the last few weeks of April. lol. My camera doesn't show dates, so I can't give you an exact day.

After the gas post price, I thought it'd be interesting to show you all this picture I took.

Okay. So for Americans.. this can be pretty confusing. First of all, the money is in Euros, not American dollars.. So, let's convert that first!

1.51 Euros is 2.32 American Dollars 1.49 Euros is 2.29 American Dollars 1.39 Euros is 2.14 American Dollars.

And.. what does all the other stuff mean? S.P98, S.P95, and Gazole? Umm.. I don't even know about the first two, I do know that gazole just means "fuel" (easy one)

Also, we have to remember that they use liters, and 1 liter is .26 gallons.. which is close enough to being 1/4, that I don't feel like doing a lot of math.

The LOWEST price they offer of "Gazole" one gallon of gas would be AROUND $8.56 To get S.P95 it would cost AROUND $9.16 To get S.P98 it would cost AROUND $9.28

Look, I'm not good at math, so these are a little rough.. but still interesting!

I can't imagine paying that much for gas..

Now just for fun.. Imagine if you drove my car (2007 Honda Civic), which holds around 8 Gallons of gas (uhm I think).. if I wanted to fill it up in Paris.. it would cost me somewhere AROUND 68.48. *gag* And that's going for the cheapest gas. That's almost $70! How insane.

Date: 5/3/2008 12:49:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 43991    I don't know! That's just how gas is.. I was walking along the street and didn't even see a "station" like how we get gas. lol. I was kind of thinking "what the heck..?" but I just snapped a picture because I was trying to get a taxi to take me back to the train station. Smart cars are pretty popular there, as is public transportation. I tried to limit my taxi riding and mainly take the Metro. Which is creepy.. but I lived. hehe.
Date: 5/3/2008 12:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 62579    How do they pay for the gas is there a small store near each one?
Date: 5/3/2008 12:53:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 43991    There must be, but honestly a lot of stores looked closed there, but someone was getting gas.. so I was like hmph. Maybe you pay at the pump on the opposite side of where I took the picture?
Date: 5/3/2008 12:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 43991    Okay, I googled it.. and it looks like there is a building that you can go in. I must have been in too big of a hurry and missed it.
Date: 5/3/2008 1:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 28848    I think the 95 and 98 are the octane grades, similar to our plus and premium grades. I remember last year when our gas prices went way up, some of the UK area usmers were explaining how much higher their gas prices were.

Date: 5/3/2008 5:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 62881    A Honda Civic gas tank holds approx 13.21 gallons.
Date: 5/3/2008 5:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 43991    No, mine doesn't GEF.. I don't have a Hybrid.
Date: 5/3/2008 7:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 62881    My sister has one...and it isn't a hybrid either
Date: 5/3/2008 7:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 62881    The GX model has an 8 gallon tank...but it is natural gas...is that yours?
Date: 5/3/2008 8:49:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 43991    Yeah, I have a GX model.
Date: 5/3/2008 8:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 43991    You have to remember, that I got my car in March of 2007, had surgery the beginning of June in 2007th.. and have not been allowed to drive since because of my epilepsy. Therefore, I am not the one filling up the gas on this car, and do not know about it.
Date: 5/3/2008 9:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 21903    Yeah...sucks to be on bad terms with people who supply us! I knew it wasn't the demand so much as the fact that we are easily taken advantage of b/c we are all sheep.
Date: 5/4/2008 1:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 63011    Interesting pic! Glad I don't live in France, though!
Date: 5/4/2008 1:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 12072    The thing is though, they don't have to drive nearly as much as we do. I lived a year in Europe and never once needed a car to get anywhere I needed to go. I think the high prices are to push people into using public transport.
