I am glad you weren't attacked! I am fearful of strange dogs too. |

I know Peacelover, this is a small town and it seems like there are quite a few dogs that get loose. I'm not use to that. My second night here the neighbors dog got hit by a car while I was sitting outside. It was awful! It crushed it's pelvis, but I saw him limping around the other day, getting ready to cross the road in front of a car, my daughter and I both ran out into the street to stop the car. |

I think it's due to all the bad press that the pitbull's breed has recived most people are afraid of them. Glad all worked out well ^^ |

My oldest daughter was attacked by a pit-bull mix when she was 2, had to get stitches on her face, that is probably why I don't care for them. It's not only pit-bull mixes though, I'm leery of any stray dog. |

I know what you mean, Kelly. We tell ourselves that we do not fear them, that we are the masters of all that we survey, BUT, it's hard to stand pat when the beasts charge..hehe...;) "Discretion is the better part of valor," and all that. Glad that you and pooch are OK.:) Write on..... |

I think almost everyone gets nervous whenever a strange dog (any dog) runs at them. I'm actually more nervous of labradors than I am of pitbulls, but that is because there is more bites per year from labradors than pitbulls. I'm glad you are okay :) |

I agree w/Callice. I love Dogs, but I was walking Oskar and two big Golden Retrievers ran at us, barking. Oskar is a 5-6 lbs mini-Doxie, so I scooped him up. I know that Goldens are nice dogs (normally) but when dogs are together, and their owners are not out, who knows what a dog will do? Luckily the owner came out, and the dogs were friendly. But I would be lying if I did not say I was not intimidated. |

I was always scared of small dogs growing up. But I outgrew it, and got a small fox terrier. |

Well Kelly, I'm not scared of dogs but if that had happened to me I would have reacted the same as you hun lol!! the saying goes that if you show fear with a dog that comes close to you it could attack so to stay calm lol, I've had many a time when I've had to walk past one and try to act nonchalant lol, shaking inside all the time till I got right away from it....:) |

good thing you reacted the way you did, no matter what size the dog you never know what could happen. |

I'm really glad you and your dog were unharmed.. Pits are really hit or miss because a lot of people get them to look "tough" and wind up training them to be mean.. it's a shame.. my Pit Bull is a sweetheart and sometimes people cross the street when I walk her or act visibly afraid of her.. it kind of makes me feel bad. |
