so, of course I'm a kid magnet when it come to kids that know me. But I'm beginning to think I also am with ones that don't know me. Seriously. Of course I love kids, but when their parents don't know me, and they don't know me, it just seems a been awkward for some child to run up and try talking to or follow me, and of course if their parents came out they don't know if i ccan be trusted.
I like to go for alot of walks and bike rides, and last year I was just going for a walk with my music cranked up, walking this one ladies dog, when a little boy about 3 or 4 years old comes up to me and starts asking me about "my" dog and if he could pet him. And here I am, walking, and not wanting to just ignor him, but trying not to encourge him to keep talking. I think I said something like, "no, he's a nice dog, but he's not mine" and said "well, I have to keep walking but you need to stay here"
Then within the past month I've had similar incidents happen, all while I'm just walking minding my own business. First incident was me walking down a street crownded by kids on their bikes, suddenly pretending to be the bike police! I'm not even talking to them, when one little girl suddenly asks me, "do you know what grade i'm going to be in" and her twin sister is like, "remeber, we aren't supposed to talk to strangers." I told them that was a good rule.
The very following day, i walk past the same kids, when one little girl starts FOLLOWING ME on her tricycle and laughing. She was getting pretty far away from everyone, and i keep peeking behind me, and she's still their. finally i'm like, "sweety are you going home?" "NO," she says. "Then you need to stay with your friends" Next day i run into the same little girl at a garage sale on the other side of town!
I thought I was avoiding running into this big group of kids by not walking by their area late into the evening. wrong! Some little girl today all dressed in her swimsuit just starts following me by the side of her lawn as I'm walking today, and i didn't see an adult around, so I just tried not to look much at her and kepts walking, but glanced over my shoulder a few times. she's still there! finally i'm like, "you should stay in your lawn." "what?" she says. So i repeat my selfs. once more she says. "What" and i'm like "you need to go back to her hous." thankfully her dad came out and told her to come back, and reminded her not to talk to stranges.
