**UPDATE 2** My brother's birth mother was named Wanda Gibson, maiden name Martin. **
**UPDATE** Okay, upon talking to my dad I found out that the boy was born in about 1973. The mom DIDN'T want him and put him up for adoption at a Lutheran agency in Detroit. I have her name now, and I know she named the baby Patrick (could obviously have changed by his adoptive parents) but it looks like I still have some work to do to find out who my brother is! ******
Talking to my grandma, I found out that my dad has a son that's a few years older than I am. Now, my dad was very adamant about my sister (mom's kid, not his) finding out about her other half-siblings, saying she had a right to know and everything. Yet, I didn't even know I had this brother until today.
I'd talk to my dad about it but he's extremely moody and flies off the handle at the strangest things, so I want to get some more information before I talk to him about it.
All I know about my brother is that he's a male, is about 25-35 years old, was born in Wayne or Oakland County in Michigan, and that my dad and his mom split up and she wanted to raise him on her own. So basically all I have to go on is that and my dad's name... which I'm just hoping is on his birth certificate but I heard a rumor that the father's name is not always necessary on that, at least back then.
I have ALWAYS wanted a big brother, so I really want to find him. I'm a bit worried about what it might do to him if he doesn't know... but I'd try to talk to his mom first. I'm aware she might tell me to go away, and that might be upsetting but we're both adults so I think we both have a right to know about each other and maybe know each other. Aside from that, my own mother went and met her after she found out, but my mom passed away since then so I don't know.
So, where should I start?
