Check the cable from the monitor to the computer. Make sure it is plugged in all the way. |

your monitor is going out, time to by a new one. I've been through that several times. try looking at thrift stores, I find lots of good computer parts there sometimes.  |

Thanks for all of your replies everybody. I just found out it is the monitor nad I'm hoping my brother can go with me and find a new one.
I also found out that I was not suppose to leave a monitor on all the time even though it goes in to a sleeping mode. I did check the cables to make sure they were securely connected. Thank again.  |

I had that same problem. I thought it was teh monitor so I got a new one; unfortunately that didn't fix it. I had a family friend who owns a computer repair shop check it out, he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I ended up having to get a whole new computer. I hope you have better luck than I did!  |

When you get a new one, the warranty is a good idea, I know its expensive but if they can't fix it they will replace it (dell will at least, I used to be a dell tech.. if you do get a dell get it FROM DELL, thats the only way to get the warranty from them) ...  |

Also, in most sreas you can't put out an old monitor with the trash. It costs extra to get rid of them.  |
