Glad to say I have finally found another church that does want college kids serving through all areas of the church. Me, and some youth that no longer want to go to are old church have all been attending the service there together, and they have a strong college program with over 48 people, and a strong youth minetry, not to mention they encourage the college students to become youth leaders. I am really hoping this place holds all the opprotunties and wonders that my old church once did.
Well... I also ran into a very funny story though with my old church. I still stay in contact with the one other college girl who is now Jewsih, occasionally many of the youth, kids, and families who do still go there. Recently someone told me how they have all there Vacation Bible School Pics, along with slideshows, and videos on the church website! Of course I loved having the opprotunity to look at them and see how much all the kids I once taught have grown. But here is the funny part.... to full understand this, I copied and pasted an old post here, but if you'd just like to get the the point, you can sroll down...

A couple months ago before I made my final decision to not be a member of that church, they informed me that our only two college kids weren't allowed to help with the youth. As the new head pastor said (they go all new minestry leaders over the course of the year.. pastors, sunday school leader, etc) we're not veiwed as adults to them, and frankly she was surprised when she came to the church and discovered we were allowed to be part in the youth minestry! And our spot z college programe (which they didn't even have a collegge program of their own, but there is one that's seperate from our church) I didn't like this. I felt that maybe b/c of the age gap being less then 10 years maybe the youth don't 100% think of us as being adults, but they look up to us, they can relate to us, and I thought that could really affect the youth group. Me being the fighter that I've been for going there so much longer then they have, really wanted to make them thinnk about this rule, and I knew many people wouldn't like that new rule. How did I deal with it? I wrote a letter to them explaining my thoughts, along with the thoughts of others that I know (youth all the way to parents of youth, and other college friends of mine) I made them a slideshow and situation, had it on my PRIVATE PROFILE for people I knew in person to see and read, and a video from 2001 (those kids in the 01 video are now adults!) I wasnt expecting them to change there ways from reading or seeing anything, or for them to write back, just for them to think, and get a better insight on the veiws of others.
The letter and slideshow finally got sent to them, and a couple weeks later (june 2nd) I got a reply, not giving me any positive feedback but instead they critizied me! The comments made them suspricious that it was posted online, so they write a letter telling ALL the parents of THE WHOLE CHILDRENS MINESTRY this.... they didn't say why though, they just made it sound like it was available for the whole world to see, which it was not and you cannt steal it! (unless you hack into my profile and others profiles like they did) and they made it sound like I had horrible pics or something by wording it "you might feel like you privacy has been invaded" All it was in the slideshow though was my own mission trip and vbs pics that only my friends could veiw, and other then my own pics from outside of church things, and some of my other mission trip pics for only my friends to see, I've never had any pics online!
So... I have written to all the parents explaining why they received, and decided to drop my membership. Eventually I'll find a new church that I love. All the people who replied think I did nothing wrong! I'm I have learned to things from this situation.... I guess I've only fighted and tried to change the new leaders, b/c I've gone there so long, and don't like it that these new people are just shoving me and others who've went there so long too the side. And I learned what I did wasn't bad like they made it sound. But I've also learned that after what they did I'm not even going to bring a camera to a church again, and if I'm ever have encouter problems like that I'm going to forget about them.

So.... whats the purpose of this whole post??? Well, after all I went through, and how they reacted to me, and then they also now forbid any one from taking cameras on church related evants unless they want them confiscated. But I don't think it makes much sence for them to go post pictures on the church site, and ANYONE can SEE, DOWNLOAD, COPY, or PASTE how it that different?? At first I thought maybe they had parental consent but I doubt they got consent for 130 kids a couple dozen youth and adults, and I know for a fact they never asked one youth! Not to mention in some of there pics you can see there names on their name tags, and I didn't had no names or location on what I did! I know I cant really have a say in what they have done, expecially now that I don't go the that church, like i said, is this situation really much different?just a thought.
