Are You A Risk Taker? ... +Rainbow Angel+

Hey Everyone,

I have been thinking about this all day. About taking risks, and how they can either effect your life for better or worse. I know that in some cases, you need to take risks in order to go further in life, and to learn and grow from things that may have scared you before. But there are some risks that are un-necessary. For example:

A man decides to hop onto his motorcycle.  He is a good driver, and tries to be safe. But that particular day, he decides to take a risk and race against two other bikers at top speeds on a local road. He is racing, doing well, and then suddenly spins out of control, and BAM, into the divder... dies instantly. Leaving behind a wife, and two sons, now was this necessary? Could it have been avoided? I think it could have been. Risks like that should just be common sense, just DON'T do it. You never know what could happen. And now his wife and two young sons have to pay for his "Risk" for the rest of their lives..

Now, are you a risk taker?

I am a very cautious person. My friends used to bug me about being overly cautious when I was younger, but that is just how I was, if there was a chance that something bad could happen to me, I wouldn't do it. And most of the time it was silly things that could get me badly hurt. Now adays, I am still cautious, yet more open to certain risks, and aware of the dangers that others may posess.

:) You live, you learn.. and other times you cannot take it back.

Take care of yourselves USM.

Thank you for reading!

~Carissa.. +Rainbow Angel+

Date: 7/24/2008 3:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    I'm fairly cautious also hun...:)
Date: 7/24/2008 3:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    some risks are worth it though. For example, love is a huge risk. I made the risk of letting someone in and it has paid off. I have a loving wife and a beautiful daughter now. We are all risk takers just be leaving the house. We have no control over our lives. It is just the level of risk taken that is different. Great post.
Date: 7/24/2008 3:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 64566    I'm pretty cautious. I'm always careful about something.
Date: 7/24/2008 4:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 57640    I'm a huge risk taker...but only about certain things. I probably wouldn't sky dive or anything... but I make a lot of impulsive decisions that can be seen as "risky". If I want something, I want it right then and there, so I usually buy something that I don't need that isn't a good decision or follow through with something that isn't safe.
Date: 7/24/2008 4:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 63026    Depends on the risk. I took a risk of quitting my job, and it worked out for the best.
Date: 7/24/2008 4:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    I take risks in normal everyday life when I crawl out of bed..it's unavoidable...
Date: 7/24/2008 4:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 23963    I am always very cautious before taking risks. One should always think about something before they take a risk. I will only take them after I have looked at all sides of it first. Good post RA!! *Hugs* :)
Date: 7/24/2008 5:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Cupcake.. see that is why we get along so well.. :p no risks for us! haha!
Date: 7/24/2008 5:09:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Good to know I am not the only cautious one gramma! *hugs*
Date: 7/24/2008 5:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Good point Kurt! I agree with you, risks like that are worth every penny! True, some things we can control, and others we cannot.
Date: 7/24/2008 5:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Me too Clifford. I guess that is why I also over worry sometimes too. Goes hand in hand! :p
Date: 7/24/2008 5:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Rach, that is part of living life. It is just good to be cautious of what may happen, and to be aware of things. I know I can be bad at impulse buying!! And then its like, why did I do that? Live and learn.. well.. until the next impulsive buy. Trust your gut, and live life to its fullest!
Date: 7/24/2008 5:13:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    PsyGuy that is a good risk, because it worked out for you in the end. I guess thats the thing, you never can quite tell what the outcome may be.
Date: 7/24/2008 5:14:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    True Kirk.. I suppose everything could be listed as a risk ! :p :)
Date: 7/24/2008 5:15:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Hangman, that is how I am too. I take my time. I am trying not to always be like that, and have jumped into things that I would not normally do. It's scary, yet thrilling.. although you won't see me bungee jumping any day now. :)
Date: 7/24/2008 5:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 27583    "WHO ME ? " I race cars at the track , i enter all demolition derbys that we have , i do figure 8 raceing with a car with a boat and trailor hooked to it and the last one in tact wins. ive been married three times and you are my usm daughter...hmmmmmmm me a risk taker , i think not :)
Date: 7/24/2008 5:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 63743    I am cautious sometimes...I think somethings are worth taking risks for even racing and such, the only thing I try not to take risks is in love, but that hasn't work so I guess i better start there too...
Date: 7/24/2008 6:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Haha! Daddy, you sure are a huuuuuuge risk taker.. but that is okay! :p I love you anyways! ;)
Date: 7/24/2008 6:45:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Karlita, I suppose in a way, every risk can have good intentions put behind it, and can be good for a person. I found that love was the hard thing for me to take a risk, but once I did.. never looked back.
Date: 7/24/2008 6:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Calculated risks :) Hiya, Rainbow Angel.:) Write on.....
Date: 7/24/2008 6:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 64365    I didn't used to be, because whenever I did take a risk it would turn out badly...but, I've loosened up a little...not sure about results yet
Date: 7/24/2008 7:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    I am both very cautious and a big risk taker. But then I am an optimistic pessimist too. When it comes to physical safety, I am extremely cautious. But then I think it would be so fun to sky dive or maybe even bungee jump. I would need statistics though. In our married life, we have quit really good paying jobs several times to start our own business's or move from Arizona to Washington. That move should have been a scary risk, since we also sold our beautiful home as well. But we found it exciting to follow our dreams and it has worked out tremendously for us.
Date: 7/24/2008 8:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    I very rarely venture outside my comfort zone.. yes, I can be adventurous, but I'm not much of what you'd call a "risk-taker".. especially if it could result in me or a loved one dying.
Date: 7/25/2008 12:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 21203    I used to be more of a risk taker when we didnt have our kids, but now they are here...I just dont have the time, energy OR the MONEY! Risk for me now...would be like skiing - which I never have... I used to ride a motorcycle - yes as me as the driver, but I never had thoughts of racing anyone. My kids are TOO important! How are you?!?!?! Any babies yet??
Date: 7/25/2008 6:02:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Calculated.. sounds good to me Kronk!!! Write on my friend.. :D
Date: 7/25/2008 6:03:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Nani, that is how I have been.. but sometimes you just need to jump in and take a risk.. but there are still certain things I won't risk .. results pending!
Date: 7/25/2008 6:04:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Rika, exactly!!! If it is going to endanger myself or someone I love, that is where I draw the line.
Date: 7/25/2008 6:06:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Illy, its like once you start a family, and especially have kids, why would you want to risk your life? They need you!! I had no idea you used to ride a motorcycle, wow woman!!! Hehe. I am doing well sweetie, keeping myself "out of trouble". No babies yet!!!! :p One day perhaps! ;)
Date: 7/25/2008 10:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 23207    I am pretty cautious, but I also ride a motorcycle, which in itself is a risk. :)
Date: 7/25/2008 3:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Introubleintx, I have been on a bike before, it is a thrill!!! I don't think its a problem, if you are cautious on how you do things. :D
Date: 7/26/2008 5:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 28363    lol yes - risk taker, thrill seeker
Date: 7/26/2008 1:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Donno, somehow that doesn't surprise me! :p
Date: 7/27/2008  From Authorid: 53052    i have never really been a risk taker.. i naturally have bad luck, so taking risks isn't the best thing to do... plus i like security i always have.. even more now that i have a baby, i will never let myself get down to my last few diapers, never allow her to get to less than a quarter can of formula becaue if all hell breaks loose tomorrow.. i want to know that i atleast have some things to depend on (weather it be job security, always having food in the house, diapers, financial, life)
Date: 7/27/2008 8:12:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Mid, I think that is a good way of going about things, especially when you have other important things going on in your life, like family! :)
Date: 7/28/2008 4:26:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13546    Oh and Ginger, sounds fantastic to me. I am so glad that it has worked out for you!!!!!!
