If you don't hear from the owners, let them know you are taking the cat to the pound because you are going away for the weekend. then also let the pound know that you left a message with the owners letting them know the cat will be there, |

Do you have a no kill shelter in the area? That might be an option if the owner doesn't call back. Or if one of the tags is a rabies tag and has the vets information on it, they might be willing to take the animal in until the owner can be contacted. |

First of all, put up found ads, with a picture of this cat on them. IF no one comes to claim the cat wihin one week. Call your local Animal Control person, and they will bring the cat to a local Animal Shelter, where they will further the investigation on the know owners of this animal. You never know, the owner(s) may have put a microchip inside the animal. If, by chance there is no nicrochip, the aniumal shelter will then try to find this cat a great and caring home. |

I would call the owners and tell them that you are taking him to the pound cause you cannot keep it for the weekend...Thats so strange, my friend found a cat last night too, but they had him in listed in some website, and he had to call the number in the website and give them a chip number that was on the collar and then they would contact the owners, they couldn't get a hold of anyone but we find out his name was Mr. Dougie :D |

I have been looking for no-kill shelters, but most of them aren't accepting any more pets. I am going to call the owners again in a little bit, but I don't know what I can do after that other than take him to the pound :( |

Cant you at least cry and beg your mom to give it a couple of weeks till you find him a home? Go to work and make up a sob story of how you have to take him to the pound, cry if you have too,I knew a co worker that did that and she found her cat a home in a DAY. |

I reverse looked up the phone numbers on the tag, one number is from Beverly Hills, CA (which is in Los Angeles) and one is from Tulsa, OK. I am in Anaheim, CA which isn't really near to either of them, so I think it might be my neighbor across the street, they recently had two people, late 20's maybe early 30's, move in, and it seems like it might be them, so I'm going to knock on their door after work and ask. I really hope I find his family! |

Well my mom is out of town, which is why we can even have the cat in the house at all. I am going out of town for the weekend and I don't want my aunt to have to take care of him, but I don't know... I really hope I find his family!!!! |

Being Labor Day weekend , I'd try my best to hang on to the cat till after the weekend in case they went out of town. Also you can go to Google , type in the area code and number EXAMPLE: 555-444-6666 and see if it shows where the cat come from. Please Do Not consider taking it to the pound. Try to post signs or put a notice in the paper saying you found a cat. Good Luck. |

Clifford, I did that, the phone numbers are from Los Angeles which is over an hour drive away, and Oklahoma, which is not close at all, I called the humane society and they scanned the cat and it was chipped, so they said they were going to take him home. Jammy, it moved out of the bush across the walkway pretty fast and it was at night, and the raccoons have been bugging us lately, so he assumed it was one. |
