Tonight ABC, CBS, and NBC had a one hour special on Fighting Cancer.
I watched. And I cried.
And I laughed.
And I felt a renewed hope for defeating this disease. In 1993, I lost a friend named Richard Harris to brain cancer. His widow, Faye & I are still friends. We will be for life, I imagine.
In 1998, I lost one of my best friends ever to lung cancer. His name was Matt Hillyard. He was 43 years old.
In 1997, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I am a survivor.
In 1999, I lost my Mother to oral, and lymph node cancer.
In 2007, my sister was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
(And I cannot forget my friend Joe (Demon Rage>.
I raise a mug of steaming coffee to you Buddy!
And, of course, in 2008, I lost the greatest love of my life to brain & pancreatic cancer.

The purpose of my post is two-fold.
There is no one who's life has not been touched, in some way, by this disease.
BUT,
I also believe that we will defeat this disease. That some day, it will be a memory, only mentioned in History books.
Let us not forget our dead, but also continue our fight for the living.
Who is with me?
* If you smoke, quit.
* If you never smoked, don't start.
* Get yearly mammograms. (Men get breast cancer too. Ask your Doctor for information).
* Get colonoscopies after the age of 40
* Men, get your prostate checked
* Cut down on red meat
* Eat cancer fighting foods, like broccoli and cauliflower.
And, if you wish:
donate time (and money) to the American Cancer Society.
Visit cancer patients
Let's all work to make Cancer a memory.
This post is dedicated to everyone whom this disease has touched.
