The Relationship Garden

Every relationship is very much like one large garden and two gardeners that take care of all the things that make the garden a great place to be. It takes both gardener's to make it work. One gardener can do most of the work but slowly things will start to deteriorate and it won't be apparent for a long while. However, eventually it will become a place where neither gardener wants to be.

Each gardener takes responsibility for what needs to be done, it's not a fixed set of responsibilities. They need to care more for the garden than they do for their own pleasure they get out of it.

It is an investment in love.

What is in the garden isn't as important as the blending of both gardeners natures and personalities as they work together to make the best place it can be. It has to be a cooperative effort filled with respect, honor and love where both are willingly giving everything they have.

Many times, one of the gardeners does enough to get by, but still eats the fruit of the garden and never suspects nor realize that the other Gardner is contributing more and more to a failing endeavor.

Each person must take responsibility for the failure. There are many indicators and signs that things are failing. These things must be addressed long before the garden has failed. Corrective efforts can often times put things back on track. However, both partners have to be willing to give all they have to make it work.

There is no possibility that one gardener can take care of the garden no matter how much they try, it won't be a happy place after a while.

A garden as well as relationships need constant attention, care and nutrients.

So if you want to eat the fruit of the garden be willing to be a full time gardener.

Life is like being in a row boat.
If you don't pick up a paddle and row,
don't complain about where you end up.

-Radman
