I took her death really hard. It was like I was her mother. She was ten years younger then I and from the day she was born I was her mother. Our father left our mother when he found out she was pregnant with her. Our mother was very into drugs. I was incharge the day she came home from the hospital. I would feed her, change her, bath her, stay up with her at night time, and even miss school when she was sick. My mother was wasted on drugs when she was driving around with my sister in the car. They ended up hitting another truck going about 80 mph. Both were killed. Four years after her death I was getting out of work and heard this noise. I knew what it was before I saw it but I couldn't bring it to myself to believe it. It was a little girl. It took me a few minutes for her to come to me. She was only four years old. Her pink shirt was very torn, stained, and smelled. She wore no jeans only a pair of panties. Her blond hair was a rats nest. I took her home. I got her some food and I gave her a bath. When she was in the bath playing (she hasn't spoken one word to me yet), I called the police and told them about it. While I was waiting for them to awhile the girl suddenly looked at me. Her brown eyes seemed to light up. She said hi. She said that I was to adopt her because I've known her from before. She said that I am her mother. And her name was Marie. I couldn't believe my ears. I couldn't even find the words to speak and I couldn't even think. Just then the police were at the door. They had the social services with them and they took her away. She kicked, clawed, punch, bite, screamed, cryed, she did everything she could do to get them to let her go. She was able to get away from them twice and she ran to me saying over and over again that I can't let them take her. That she belongs here with me. For months I wasn't able to get any information about what happen to the little girl. The police and social services told me they couldn't tell me anything. Her words that she said to me when she was taking her bath, haunted me. I felt this power in me so strong that I HAD to get her back. After a few more months of frustration and angery I was able to adopt her. When I saw her the next time I fainted. She was wearing a purple shirt with yellow sunflowers on it, purple jeans, black strap sandles, and her clean blond hair was in braided pig tails. The same outfit my sister wore the day she died. She looked just like my Jessica. She didn't know her middle name but her first name was Marie. Marie was Jessica's middle name. And she told me,"Mommy, I'm back like before." How it changed my life: She is growing up so fast and she is looking more and more like Jessica. I'm not sure what to think about this. But I do know that I love her very much and will give her the life that my sister and I should of had. She will always be safe and loved. She is my life....I guess this changed my grief on Jessica's life...I can live again....
