I live in Minneapolis & before my wife and I bought our house, the owner told us that he heard rumors that many years ago a young girl had been "killed" in the house (he didn't know if it was an accident, homicide, suicide, or natural). Anyhow, my wife, son & I lived in the house for the next 8 years without any unusual incidents happening. Then one night, after coming home from grocery shopping, my wife let me out near the front door with groceries so I wouldn't fall in the snow. I went in the house and above me on the 2nd level, I heard what sounded like footsteps in a specific time order (in other words, there might be a 2 second pause before the next footstep). My immediate thought was that there was a burglar in our house upstairs & my wife and son were in the car getting ready to walk in the back door. It was the only time in my life that I was so scared that I actually grabbed a kitchen knife & proceeded upstairs. I looked in our bedroom & closets but nobody was there. I looked in the linen closet but nobody was there. I looked in my son's room & closet but nobody was there. I looked in our spare bedroom & closet but nobody was there. I even looked out back on a 3 season porch we have but nobody was there. I never found anybody or anything. We have radiators but this sound was just as if my son were walking around upstairs but with heavier shoes. I work in a hospital & would NEVER recommend that people take knives or other weapons because statistics show that much of the time they are used AGAINST the person. Since that time, (around 1994), we/I have heard no unusual sounds. EU |
