@}~~ Sadly every year as the new school year begins we get this Whooping Cough alert. I know in our school system everyone got a shot for it and if you were employed by the school system you HAD to get it unless a Dr. said it would harm you, if you didn't get the shot than you had to go home until you proved you did. I can tell you that my arm was so swollen from the shot and the swelling lasted over a month, very painful. ![]() |

I personally wouldn't blame unvaccinated children. I was vaccinated FULLY against everything back when I was a kid. I STILL at the age of 10 got pertussis, and not only that, when I was a child I was given all the shots for MMR. And again, when I was 21 after my first child was born, and again when I was 23 after my daughter was born. Guess what? I'm STILL not immune to measles, and I never will be. I've only had my daughter partially immunized and she is one of the most healthiest kids I've ever met, so I think its just bad luck that whooping cough is making an appearance. And, I really hope you take this the way its meant, but I was so surprised when I read this and then saw that you had posted it! I thought for sure that you didn't vaccinate your children! I was quite surprised lol. ![]() |

I guess with the scares over the safety of vaccinations and their implications with autism and such, we will never be rid of these old diseases. I thought by this century we would have safer ways of dealing. ![]() |

I am going out on a limb here and saying that a lot of these kids getting pertussis get it from their parents/caregivers rather than other kids who haven't been vaccinated. And if the demographics were published I believe it would show that the majority of those parents/caregivers are immigrants from countries where the pertussis vaccination isn't mandated. God Bless. ![]() |

sadly there is still the misconception that autism stems from vaccinations... ![]() |

also, here where i live its mandatory for your child to be up to date on their shots before they can go to school, and from experience i seen that my son was never ill or caught any viruses until he started school, then he'd get the occasional bug and the teachers would tell me half the class was out from it,so it seems that when you get a room full of small children, viruses become more succeptible, ????? just a thought *sheela* |
