I have had the exact same dreams. I always sleept on my back and it was harder to breath that way after I went to sleep. Consequently I stopped breathing but I dreampt that it was because I was drownding. I now sleep on my side and the dreams have gone away entirely. |

I have had a similar dream, except in mine I
Fall into a swimming pool and no matter how
long I swim towards the surface I cannot reach it.
Then I realise I can breath under water and have
fun. What I believe this dream could be about is
a fear of water and the dream is trying to make
you unafraid, or you could have many things going
on in your life and it might feel like you are
drowning in your work, or maybe it is a fortelling
that you will be swamped in work and it may seem
that you are drowning in it but you can really
breath and have fun with all the work. |

Drowning is a common dream. It usually indicates
that you feel overwhelmed by life's pressures.
(Who doesn't from time to time?) Try to find time
to read, talk about your feelings with friends,
and get exercise and relaxation when you need it.
Many people find good support in their church too.
You say that you actually feel pain in your chest.
Is it possible that you are suffering from Sleep
Apnia, where you do not get enough air during the
night? You might look into this possibility or ask
your doctor.

I had a similar problem of dreams of drowning, which proved to be sleep apnia sessions. I suggest you get to a doctor and get tested. |

Drowning could mean many things but in order to undrestand one first has to understand "WATER"
As rite of baptism symbolize new beginnings and dedication to the spiritual life, so in dreams water represents a spiritual symbol. Its an emblem not only for rebirth but other aspect of one journey through life. Terms used would be: a stormy life, smooth sailing, shipwrecked individual, at sea, adrift or castaway are indication of the broadness.DReams of swimming are often related to spiritual progresss and the difficulty or ease with which one swims indicates retrogression or progression. A dream of drowning could be a literal warning and it could also refer to aphysical condition of the body and an example of such would be. pneumonis, nephritis, emphysems and like everything it depends on the details and setting. Your dreams shows you advancing into deep water The depths of the water represents the danger present when the will of one overrides common sense - are you try to run before you can walk or are you getting into something too deep? Water also has a negative conntation as well and it depends on the setting of the dream and also the experience and back ground of the dreamer itself. Go back over the day or week before the dream took place and you'll be able to find your answer. |

Forgot to add as well, that
it seems your are on a spiritual journey and from
what the dreams is saying, your doing rather well (learning to breath under water) but a word of caution.
Don't let the decent into the water become to fast or you will be holding your breath when it comes to wanting to believe in what is being revealed to you. Hope this helps. |
