Angels don't always have white robes and wings. Your friend Josh just might have been an angel. My dad never refused to help anyone - he always picked up hitchikers and helped anyone who asked (a ride, money, a place to stay, something to eat - whatever they needed). I got onto him one day and told him he was going to robbed, mugged or even killed if he didn't quite trusting everyone. He told me the reason he never refused anyone in need was because they could be an "angel unaware." What he meant was, anyone you come in contact with might just be an angel, even though they don't have a white robe and harp!  |

I do believe that Josh was an angel. I have read many books on angels. They always show up when you are at your lowest to encourage and minister to you and when you have recovered (emotionally, physically, etc.), they vanish. In most cases, others don't see them, only the person they're helping. They're sent by God. |

This is a great story. I have never had an encounter with an angel, but I believe you may have. I believe God helps all his people in need. Maybe God sent you this angel to help you out. |

This is a good story, but I would like to comment on the title. To "befriend" someone means to do away with a frienship in a bad way. Even though you were unable to contact him he did not befriend you. It was pretty cool that he made a difference in your life. Hawk  |

No Hawk your mistaken. Befriend means to make a friend with. Check your word processor thesaurus.
You are problably thinking of a regional slang that some of you buddies made up. This is the world wide web. Also Hawk it seems you run your mouth quite a bit and you don't even know what you're talking about. |

The "be" in front of a word is a very, very old
form that you can still see around once in a while.
There are the common verbs that use this form:
befriend: to make a friend; beknight: to make a knight;
bewitch: to put under a spell; betrothe: to
engaged for marriage; bestow: to honor somebody
with a gift, title, etc.

WOW Sarah. Great story. In reading some of these I had spoken with my daughter earlier today and un beknown to me although I always felt in my heart that angels wher watching over her. Now I know. My daughter has CP (cerebral palsey) which holds her back some. She doesn't walk like other people and is noticed a lot by stangers. But she does well with other things and is continuing college. She's 26 now and in the past it was hard for her. She was rejected by her drivers ed teacher in high school and told that she would never be able to drive a vehicle. Several years later she passed her driving exam and was able to purchase a car. But she's really scarey on the road. We had a friend that lost her 16 year old daughter in a car accident some time past. A beautiful person such a thing to die at a young age. Wlee today my daughter told me that she is her guardian angel now. This has been an unusual day for me.
