My best boy friend and I were almost inseperable while in high school. I used to share a bunk bed with him since he was like a brother and give him foot massages before we went to bed. He used to do crazy things like dive in the canal and drive his motorcycle without a helmet and always used to say that it didn't matter because he was going to die young anyway. When I went away to college I lost contact with him. After almost 2 years went by since I saw him again and for some reason I decided to stop by unexpected at his house to visit. Everything in his life was great and likewise with mine and I left my phone number for him to contact me. Less then two weeks later I received a phone call from his dad saying he died working under a truck at work. I was horrified but I drove up there to support his family and receive some closure for myself. The night before his funeral I slept on the couch where he used to nap and I prayed to God to give me a sign that he was a peace. Not more then 2 minutes later I felt a cool sensation on my feet like a hand. It wasn't unpleasant and it gave me sense of peace. I feel asleep soundly. The next day after the funeral I was talking to his cousin, who is also our age, who told me something even stranger. His cousin's house was filled with strange banging noises the night my friend died along with shouts of "Hey!" as if someone was trying to get one's attention. His cousin and his family has been telling me for years that their house was haunted but never before have the six of them heard the noises at once. I feel that these are signs that he made it over to the other side. How it changed my life:These events give me a sense of closure. I feel more confident that God loves us and that heaven is waiting for us. I know my friend is in heaven watching over all of us and he proves that to his family and me by little signs and memories.
