At the approximate age of three, my younger brother, Ralph G. Schmidt, my twin sister, Melissa Ann Mellinger and myself, George W. Mellinger were left at a babysitters home in New Orleans, Lousiana by our birth mother, Sandra Carrol Mellinger, she never returned, she never called, at least that is what we are being told by various family members, I, George Mellinger have been in contact with my paternal and maternal grandmothers and my birth father, my father and his mother raised me and my siblings, custody was given to my paternal grandmother on April 23, 1970. I have recently found my birth mothers' brother and sister and have visited with them and developed relationships with them and their families. However, they do not know the whereabouts of their sister, according to them, Sandra left home at the age of 15 and never returned nor did she keep in contact with anyone in her family, also, according to Sandra's mother, on or around May of 1998, Sandra appeared at her mother's residence (apartment manager's office) and asked to speak to her mother, and identified herself as Sandra Mellinger and that she was just in from Arizona and wanted to speak to her mother, which resides in Lafayette, Louisiana, according to the apartment manager the mother to Sandra (Jeanie Mellinger) refused to see her daughter and told the apartment manager that she did not want to see her. Therefore Sandra left the premises in a cab, not to be heard of again. My problem is that I cannot find her using her name "Sandra Mellinger", if her name has changed, I don't know, my wife and I search various websites and we surf the net alot, but always come up with a closed door, my birth certificate and my sister's birth certificate do not have much information, just the birth mother's name and her age at my birth which was age 20, my sister and I were born on September 23, 1967. I am very anxious to find my birth mother, I have children I want her to meet, and I want my birth mother to know that I love her no matter what and for whatever reasons she never came back does not matter anymore, I just want to try and start from the beginning and get to know her before it is too late. Why we are looking for them:To develop a relationship with her, for her to meet her grandchildren and to have a major piece of my life settled, to let her know that I love her.
