Based on my experience, I think that sometimes ordinary people can do the kinds of things that angels are associated with. It was a summer day 5 years ago and I was standing on a crowded New York City corner waiting for the light to signal 'WALK'. The light hadn't changed yet, but there was a momentary pause in the flow of traffic. It was at this moment that a woman who was staring at the ground raised her leg to step off the curb. At that very instant I noticed a bus speeding towards the intersection, only inches from the curb. Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion as I watched the woman begin to take a step off the curb. I looked around to see if anyone else was seeing what was happening and realizing it was up to me to do something about it, I reached out and grabbed her by the collar and yanked her back as her leg started to descend off the curb. At the very moment she turned around to see who had pulled her, the bus sped by. So she never realized she was in any danger. When she turned around again, the light had changed and the crowd crossed the street.
