Hi: I rarely comment about stories like this but I am because you sound like me. Throughout high school AND college I think I dated a total of 3 women (no, ladies, I'm not a nerd!). But you sound like me in that you are honest with your feelings & yet scared to tell women how you feel. I was that way with several women. Am I a jock type? Heck no! I'm 46 years old & have been working for 16 years with mentally ill/chemically dependent adults in a group home and an In-Pt Psych Unit. One thing I've learned throughout my years of living: many (NOT all) but many women who DO marry athletes tend to be insecure themselves. Up until about 5-6 years ago, I would have classified MYSELF as an insecure person. But yet I was able to physically pack 3 bags, leave a city I disliked (the NYC area), & move to a city I found to be more peaceful (Minneapolis). This is where I met my wife. I've been living in Minneapolis for the past 17 years and feel it is "home" (in other words, psychologically I'm at peace with myself). You will find a patient & lucky woman. Take care. You know, I've never understood why some of us girls will always go after the wrong guys, the inconsiderate guys after only one thing like you said. I just don't understand it. I personally prefer the nice, sweet guys. Don't worry, there are lots of girls who will, if they haven't already, realize that they're really missing out not to get with a nice guy like you say you are and seem to be. Good luck to you, and I think you should talk to that girl...It's nice to know there are nice guys out there... but of course I already knew that :)  |

This saddens me so much I feel for your situation. I know personally that the jocks at my school were total jerks. Sad thing is every girl wanted them, maybe just to claim a title who knows. Like the whole my b/f is on the foot ball team thing..I mean please does you b/f ever tell you that he cares when he's not trying to get some! I don't see why ppl don't look at whats on the inside rather than the outside. Look at the heart not the body or the placement in society. I wish you could tell this girl just how you feel and if you do I wish you the best of luck with it maybe she will be wise and realize that love is in the heart not in the looks. Love,  |

Well, let me explain. I always liked the jocks in high school... when i got to college I fell for the frat guys... I have always had more guy who were my friends than girls, and i always got to hear all the dirt on everything. What you say is true. I know from my friends that are guys that MOSt guys like that are "players" who just want one thing. I think it is a phase or something... But now i am 21 and engaged to a wonderful guy who wasn't some jock or in a fraternity... he is just a normal sweet guy who is as crazy as me :)  |

fall for the athletic kind of guy. I go for the
"hockey guys". (or even soccer) and you are right,
they don't always treat us girls right! We might
not realize it yet, but trust me, we soon find out!
Trust me, I've learnd my lesson! But then again,
since I am in a small school, the "sporty" guys
are real sweethearts and DO know how to treat girls.
But I also agree that there are more to a guy than
