Why Did Some Turn From Christian Beliefs To Wicca?>>Princess Of Light<<

Yet again, I have come with another question, so here goes. Why do some of us here at Usm and all over the world, convert to Wicca from Christian beliefs? Why all the sudden do you find yourself believing in other gods and goddesses after so many years you have believed in the one true Lord? So many things are happening now, and a move like that might determine your eternity, although, it is of course your eternity. I used to read alot about Wicca and its traditions, and i must say at first i found it very interesting, but then i started to look at the whole picture and realized that this was only for urself, never were you actually giving, but only receiving. These gods and goddesses did not provide you with a son of there own to die for you, or promise you a life-long eternity, so why did you start/convert? *This is not to be hateful toward anyone or accuse anyones religion wrong, its of course just my opinion and i am just interested in why you converted, thankx* With Love-Cheryl

Date: 2/19/2001 11:39:00 AM  From Authorid: 10030    Well, i read up on Wicca, and after a few months i established my own beliefs. BTW, wiccans believe in ONE god, but they believe that that god has a masculine and feminine side. (Lord AND Lady) The beliefs i have now make sense to me, they seem right for me. But, its those that are following a fad...they worry me.
Date: 2/19/2001 11:42:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    I see what you are saying in a way, but as u said u believe in one God, many do not and believe in many gods, so why do they go from one God that can do all to many that have special tasks? Thankx Holliberry, but also, if you believe one God, male and female, then what about Jesus? Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 11:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 17525    Well Princess, I think you're in for some heated comments. I might point to one thing you said that I think might offend -->"after so many years you have believed in the one true Lord?" This one line implies that your belief is superior to others. While you may hold that opinion (which you are entitled to) i think you will get some opposing opinions. Im no longer a member of the christian belief (baptized catholic) and i have my reasons which i've stated in numerous replies in the past. Princess, not meant to insult here or offend, but again stating "one true Lord" is overstepping the bounds of opinion and asserting it as fact when it is only opinion based upon belief. Just an observation here. Peace Princess of Light.
Date: 2/19/2001 11:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 24963    I have really never beleived in God. something always seemed wierd about it. I read alot about wicca, and it seemed to be alot of what I have always beleived in. I wouldn't consider myself a full wiccan, but I do have alot of the wiccan beliefs. I have never considered myself a christian. I just believe what I believe and it works for me. So actually I haven't really converted I have just always done my own thing, and wicca is very close to what I have always beleived. ~Mirada69
Date: 2/19/2001 11:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 16442    I do not speak for all Wiccans but in my personal opinion, Jesus did live but he was no more 'special' than any other person who has lived and done 'worthy' acts in their lifetime. He was not the 'son' of God anymore than I am the daughter of the God/Goddess, meaning, we all have the power of God/Goddess at our fingertips. they are there if we ask. And the reason I chose Wiccan beliefs over the Bible beliefs is because I do not believe my God is cruel and would have me live eternity paying for mistakes I made in a split second of time. That would be like me disowning my child for telling me a white lie. ~MOONPRIESTESS~
Date: 2/19/2001 12:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 19220    I am a christain looking into the Wiccan religion. I haven't converted but as they say never say never. I can only tell you from where I stand. I feel there is something missing so I've decided to look in other areas. IceQueen420
Date: 2/19/2001 12:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 10075    Moon Priestess said exactly what I would have said...but she said it better LOL.
Date: 2/19/2001 12:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    Hiya Cheryl! I agree with Osiris, that by using statements such as "the one true god", you are going to alienate the very people with whom you wish to dialog. So, let me start by saying, I became a "born-again" christian at the age of 18.I thought I found a satisfying relationship with god (the father) and his son Jesus. But, I found myself questioning scripute & the things the "men of god" claimed were the very words of god.Any questions were greeted with "satan is trying to blind you....." ect."satan is trying to keep your eyes off of god"......and I also spend years,(way too many) trying to "pray away" the natural gifts I had. Now, since becoming a Wiccan, I have grown more mentally & spiritually than every before!!!!*smiles*, when I cry out the names of the Goddess/God, I am actually addressing the different aspects of ONE being who is both male & female.....our creator is a mystery. But I would hate to believe that by exploring other belief systems,I am "da*ned" to eternal torment! Also, I am not part of the "revelations is coming to pass crowd", because frankly, since jesus died, his people have been awaiting his return.Hope this helps.
Date: 2/19/2001 12:52:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    17525, hiya, well i understand what your saying, but i posted it as i see it, im sure those who converted felt the same way about God, the one true Lord. But as i said, there are gods and goddesses that exist, and i just wanted to know why the converted, i didnt state anything to insult anyone, in fact, i know what i am getting into and that is why posted it, i care alot about other people, and i am very humble at times to them, half of what i post i post it out of concern for others, not for me. I see God as a true God, and He is one, not many in my opinion. But i am willing to let people put what they wish, because i am not looking to say there wrong, im looking to see why they chose what they did, thankx for replying. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 12:54:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    24963, yes i see what you are saying. Well in my own opinion people shouldnt be branded by a religion, alot of people do like to do there own thing, as I. I dont always agree with what the Church says, and i still have questions, and I guess i have found in myself, believing in God and Jesus more close to me, i guess you know where i am coming from as well. But i have one question for you, why do you find it closer to you? Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 12:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    Dear Cheryl, I feel closer to my "new awakening" because I am more in touch with the earth, the wind, the sky, and instead of my eyes being focused on the sky's and a celestial chess game between good & evil, I am enjoying the spirit(s) around me now! the trees & plants & all thing have life & lessons for us all!and I do feel the bible was written by men. period,~IMO~
Date: 2/19/2001 12:59:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    16442, you have proven a valuable point in my own belief system. We are all Gods children and Jesus is our brother. God does not consider us anything less then Jesus, because Jesus to was a man and im sure he felt the effects of life, after all look at what his people did to him, but i feel that was because they did not understand at the time, just like Joan Of Arc. Jesus in my opinion is considered so special because of what He did for us as a society, giving us another chance, showing us truth, something we all can do, if we believe we can. Thankx for replying. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:02:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    19220, hey there, i see what ur saying alot of answers are not answered until God sees just who has had faith in what is given to us. I know many people, people i am close to and love that have converted, and i dont go against them, because i wont. I feel nobody is ur enemy until they harm you, and even then u have to forgive, unles you intend on keeping a heavey heart. But in Wicca, do you really find answers there, or just self-fore-fillment? (however ya spell it :)~!) Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    I hope that I helped you to understand. I truly respect your right to believe as you wish, and I am the first to say everyone's spiritual walk is there own.
Date: 2/19/2001 1:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    yes, Princess, I DO find the answers to the mysteries of life!*smiles*, my Wiccan path is not about "spells" or control, it is about a relationship with all things eternal
Date: 2/19/2001 1:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    15070, hey there long time no see. Well i must say you were one of the people i have always wondered about, I find alot of your writing beautiful toward the Goddess and you seem very happy where you stand. I know there are many spirits around, and i too can communitcate with them, whether its a sin or not, things come to me, many things, and i show people what i have been shown. I explained why i put one true God before, and i hope that clears it up, it was not meant for rudeness. I think Wicca is a very self-improvment religion, based only on the person and not a specific group and that is why so many feel a connection. I did not say you will suffer an eternity, and i hope nobody has too, but of course that is not up to me. I think many people should be judged on their love for things, kindness and bond of their faith, and of course courage. If you dont have those then u are lacking knowledge. What i dont understand, is why you did it, i would say because of your faith, but i wont because you seem very sure of what you want, but i will say this, what changed your mind? Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    If you find the answers, then tell me, why did it take a whole new belief system in order to acheive that? Or in other words, did you just change ur beliefs, because truth never changes. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 16442    LSG said it well. My spiritual path is not at all about 'selfishness'. I believe that all of mother earth has feelings and feel hurt and pain just as I do, therefore I get 'fulfillment' from giving back and making all creatures happy. You will not hear a Wiccan saying, 'oh, what a pretty rose, I think I'll pick it and take it home'. At least you won't hear me say that because to cut that rose is to cause it pain and death and I cannot do that. I do very few 'spells' for myself or others, unless I am trying to do a healing. I am not trying to offend you at all but I think your concept of Wiccans is a little off and if you want to know what we are about, you should probably go find some websites that offer the information because its just too in-depth and 'personal' (as in I cannot speak for all Wiccans) to just explain in a short paragraph. Love to you .......... ~MOONPRIESTESS~
Date: 2/19/2001 1:14:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    I wanted to put this as a message, I am not here to say anything rude about anyones religion or beliefs, i am just curious as to why people convert. I find each of you all very special to me, and all your opinions count. I am not righteous in everythign i do, nor do i always do the right thing, but i try to make an effort on my behalf to not let people be against me because of what i believe as well. I love all people, and the only enemies i have are those i have forgiven. Please feel free to say anything you would like (with respect) and please fee free to ask me anything, i am only 16, so i am curious to why this religion has become so popular over the last few years, and noticed most of them are those who have converted. Thank you Guys, *hugs* Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:18:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    I did not use selfishness, because that would be insulting many people, i used self-forefilling. I did not say it was a selfish act of faith, but i see it more on a level to one on one, not just a group. I also see nature as beautiful, but i do not worship the beauty of nature, instead i worship its creator (my opinion) I also care about people in general, so i tend to put my prise aside to help others. I feel some spells people do are an act of fate in which i dont like, but i am not saying all. (depend on meaning and individual) thank you all for your replies, love to you all-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 15033    Hi Cheryl, just thought I would add my own thoughts here...I have yet to see a true "Christain" convert..it seems to be the ones that were raised in a "religion" that closely paralells Wiccan ritualistic practices to begin with. There was generally no personal relationship established with one Loving Creator in those religions so it is easy to find an answer in the Wiccan beliefs...Just telling it like I have seen it...Love,
Date: 2/19/2001 1:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    Hiya, Princess! the truth never does change! The very things that I believed came from god, DO come from a god, but I no longer believe it is the Juedo-Christian god of the bible, or Jewish Tradition. My mind, And I believe the mind of ALL humans cannot begin to fathom all that our creator is!I have always known there was a "higher" power (or powers) and that we could have a personal relationship with this creator (s) & and in fact, the being(s) who created us WANTED a relationship with us!I do believe there is evil,,,,i would be a fool not too! but i feel no need for a "devil" since man can certainly do the "devils" job just fine! Also I think a "devil" takes personal responsibility away from humans, who need to answer for their own behavior.I have never seen satan. I have never seen a "devil", I HAVE seen evil spirits, but I believe there are two types of spirits, human & inhuman. Inhuman never lived within a body, like us.I don't think they are more powerful, just different!*smiles*
Date: 2/19/2001 1:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    Thundergead, how can you decide what a "TRUE" christian is? is that not presumptious? for example, I know christians who would believe that a belief in aliens & UFO's are "demonic" & evil, and yet I know from previous conversations with you, that you believe in both! Therefore, you cannpt judge the heart of another, and if it is more comfortable for you to believe once you have "learned the truth" you cannot diviate from it, that is your perogitive! but, it doesn't make it true.....~IMO~
Date: 2/19/2001 1:31:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Hiya Thunderhead, i see what ur saying, and maybe that is where my question comes into play more often, why? thankx for your comment, i see truth in what u say about some. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Hiya LadySpiritGuide, Well i have to say you have changed what u believe. You dont believe in Satan, but you used to in order to be Christian before converting before, am i right? Satan has played the behins the scenes part, and God will not destroy him until He sees who is worthy, (not my word, but Gods) that gets into what im sure u already knew. But why not A God? why do many have to take on this Job, is this due to ur faith, or due to what u want? (again, not meant to insult you, i think highly of you guys and just asking questions) thankx, Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:37:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Thunderhead and LSG, i feel that there is only one truth, and maybe neither of you hold it, one of you or both of you, until then dont worry about who is right, just worry about urselves. I feel in some cases Thunderhead is right, but i dont think she said this to judge the hearts of those who dont believe what she does, i think you both have very strong opinions, love one another. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 19220    I have just started looking so I can't really give you an answer. I can tell you that it's like a "pulling" feeling that i get. There are many things that I believe that do not go with the christain religion. I have total respect for everyone and their beliefs. This is something I have to do for me and no one else. My husband was born and raised Catholic. He doesn't call himself a christain. I'm not really sure what he'd be called if you were to put a label on it but I do know that what he says makes a lot of sense to me. I have many Wiccan friends and I have never seen nor heard of them doing spells. My best friend is Wiccan as is her mother. They have to be 2 of the best people I have ever met. They are at peace with themselves. Thats what I want. Wicca may not be for me but thats the religion that I find interesting and is the one I am looking at now. As for it being a self-fulfiling thing*selfish*, I guess you could say yes. I need and want to find a peace within myself and if thats being self-fulfilling then I'm sorry. IceQueen420
Date: 2/19/2001 1:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    hiya, Princess, I understand your curiosity.Yes, I did believe in a devil, but only as an adult!I actually was more afraid of the idea of a devil, and therefore felt the need to be protected (spiritually) from a devil.......but things change, and so do ideas.......
Date: 2/19/2001 1:43:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    You never should have to apologize, please dont. I didnt say it was selfish. I feel that people, like i said, should be judged on the good they do. But, as religion speaking, you must have faith as well. Sometimes i have seen in the Wiccan religion many people begin to see themselves as a "god/goddess" in thinking they have any power they please at ther hands. Spells are apart of the Wiccan tradition, and help aid in worshiping the Gods/Goddesses, so i dont understand who one can be a "witch" and not do spells. If you simply worship the Gods and Goddesses, why cant you with God, who in all can do everything they can and more. I say that in my own opinion because God grants us eternal life, not the Gods and Goddesses. The choice is urs, i am just of course stating my opinion again. Love to you-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    15070, hiya, well cant God protect you from the devil? There is St.Michael who slained him, there are prayers, ect. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 1:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 19220    Hey there. I should say that I haven't seen or heard them do spells but I'm not with them 24/7 and they don't speak about it. I understand the faith issue and believe me when I say I have faith. I just don't how to explain it. I will collect my thoughts and try better later. I have to go and clean up a Cherrios and rasin mess...LOL IceQueen420

Date: 2/19/2001 2:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 3125    Hi came here to say exactly what Thunderhead has already said..And if I might add..Many can claim to be Christians but, were they really a true Christian at heart?..Sincerely Rusure
Date: 2/19/2001 3:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    3125, thank you for your comment. And thankx for sharing ur opinion here, love-
Date: 2/19/2001 3:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 11698    I agree with LSG and ~MOONPRIESTESS~...The bible is mostly mans word...They don't even know Christ's B-day.They put his birthday on a pagan holiday..Alot of the holidays people celebrate even christians are Pagan..And wiccan can not be that bad...and some shouldn't condemn us(not saying u r) because one of Gods 7 church's is a pagan church.. I haven't converted.I was never really a christian..My father is christina and my moms a protestint(however u spell it)..The got divorced before they choose my religion...I have always believed in God but i have always felt drawn to something else.felt that something was missing...I didn't know what that was till i learned about wicca...It feels right to me...I luv nature ..u know these cheryl...I luv bing in the country and when i am i feel closer to the god/goddess more then ever..Alot of people don't feel comfortable being a christian... Blessed Be-Luv-Kiera>
Date: 2/19/2001 3:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 11698    because they don't agree with alot of what the church sayz
Date: 2/19/2001 3:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 19220    I don't want to argue over who is and who isn't a "true" christain. I know what I believe in and what I don't. Most of which, doesn't go along with the Christain faith. IceQueen420
Date: 2/19/2001 3:59:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    11698, hey kiera, well i see what ur saying. But you see, the only things that u use in order to back up ur feelings are what other proclaim. You use the lack of Gods word in the bible and you use the fact that one of the seven chusrcjes was a pagan church, but what is UR feelings and argument about this and why do you feel this way, many of us dont rely on ourselves for answers. I know you love nature, but you can love nature and God too. And why wouldnt someone feel comforatable being a Christian, i am Catholic and i feel very comforatable. I have had the privilage of eternal life and God promises this, and He is unconditional love, i have never heard of a God or Goddess doing such this. I am not attacking you in any way, just showing you what i got out of your reply. Christmas may be a pagan holiday, but some people spend this holiday in church worshiping Jesus. I believe that they used this date for the begining of a new year, and not so much to do with Wicca. Christ is the re-birth, so the re-birth of a new year could symbolize Christmas. Thankx, love-
Date: 2/19/2001 4:02:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    19220-of course, we should never fight over this and we should love one another. But the fact is, something is lacking wish is giving you second thoughts as to converting, and im not saying ur not a true Christian, i am stating your need for something more, but im not sure why you would choose Wicca. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 4:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 15033    Hi Again Cheryl, I just wished to clear one little tiny thing up ...Christians LOVE NATURE too...God made it for all of us...its just that some choose to worship nature to get to God...I don't, I worship God to love and appreciate nature...lol!! Probably doesn't make sense...but it does to me....Thanks for posting this Princess of Light, and I would like to thank everyone for sharing their thoughts on it...I love to learn about others...Love,
Date: 2/19/2001 4:41:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Hey Thunderhead, yes i understand completly what ur saying, i love nature, but i was trying to point out you can love nature and be a christian also:) well thank you and thankx all u guys for ur thoughts and opinions. Love-

Date: 2/19/2001 7:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 8428    hmm i myself believes in no god or goddess.what made me a christian was a world that said be this or ur going to hell.but when i got online and on this site i understand how the bible has lies and such like that.i also understand othe religions of the world.but there is one thing that seems to make the most sense to me and it involves no god or jesus or buddha.and all fo that evidence has converted me
Date: 2/19/2001 7:16:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    16612, I think we have alot in common by thought, i too know thee are other gods and goddesses, but only one true God for me and all those who also share that belief. Thankx for the reply. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 7:18:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    8428, thankx for the reply, but i must ask you thid, because you seen others saying there were lies in the bible, you converted? So you trusted others information over you own? I dont mean that as an insult, i am just having trouble understanding why, if you could clarify it for us. Thankx, love-
Date: 2/19/2001 7:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 8428    well what people have said plays a big part but i have checked out websites and the evidence towards and against what i believe and dont and to me it seems like that christiANity makes less sense then what i do believe in.
Date: 2/19/2001 7:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 8428    also in response to what thunder said a looong time ago about a 'true' christian havent been converted so far to her.as the catholic church once said'hook them while their young'if u were born and raised in a christian family attending church every sunday and regulary reading the bible then i can understand why a 'true' christian would never convert.my family has started to go to church just recently so not fully understanding the ways of christianity i saw other possibilities of our existance and one of those ideas just has taken over my christianity belief
Date: 2/19/2001 7:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 9713    Well, I am one who converted, and I did grow up to believe god, but I didn't really feel it was true, for me. It was a choice that I made, because the Lord and Lady have always looked upon me and guided me to them. I dont know if this makes to much sense, but thats the only way i know how to explain it. Date: 2/19/2001 8:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    PePe- hiya, well i see what ur saying, but if you let people influence you(mostly) then there was lack of faiht or lack of believing, or maybe you felt something was missing. I dont like to tag name people with a religion, so when we get down to the basic facts, why dont you believe in God or Jesus? And as Thunderhead said, i think she was saying why would a "true" christian out of nowhere just convert, something had to be missing. Well later, im going to bed, lol gotta get up at 6. Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 8:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 18232    OI was born Catholic, Changed to Christian, and now im looking into other religions, Wicca being one of them, I havn't converted yet, but am thinking about it,the reason is because, something is missing for me in the Christian belief...thats my reason...
Date: 2/19/2001 8:15:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Forever Yours, do you think manybe when people are raised and sorta pressured into a religion they tend to rebel against it, and try to find themselves? I dont know, but it seems like that alot of the time, maybe not you, but alot of people. Why did you not believe, or what made you stop? That is what i dont understand, nobody has answered that so far with except it felt right to them, and which brings me back to the "self-forefillment" , i am just curious, this is very interesting. Night everyone, love-

Date: 2/19/2001 8:18:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    18232, everyone so far has said what you have, and i feel i know the reason why. Many feel they are on a one to one level with a higher force when converting to Wicca. Now, its not a group, where everyone comes first then you, its just simply you. you ask and receive, you invite and tell them to leave, you have control. But in the end, you cant control death and the afterlife, it is said only Jesus has the keys to heaven. No other Gods or Goddesses have given people these chances and this much love. So as i say now, what si lacking, your faith? I am still kinda shocked with this. Well hugs and night to ya all-Love-
Date: 2/19/2001 8:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 18232    What is slacking my faith is that im sick of believeing that I will go to hell for the minor reasons of what I do in my life...enough said. Thankyou

You are happy with yours and thats wonderful. I am not happy where I am so I am looking elsewhere. IceQueen420

Date: 2/19/2001 8:42:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    18232- there is a reason for everything. Of course you will not go to hell for simple things, but few things you will go to hell for. For example forgivness, why go around ur whole life hating someone for what they have done to you and leave ur heart heavey. Instead forgive them, and ur heart will be light, anger and hate is what will keep you from things in life, and hell, i believe the only way you will make it there is if you intend oon going there, all those who have belief, are surley blessed. Love-

I think you need to look inside yourself first and ask y u are unhappy, because each of us need differnt things. Love to you-

Date: 2/19/2001 11:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    yes, rusure and thunderhead have said it the best. If its truely in your heart, your spirit and your mind, there is just no way that one could leave being with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy spirit. Praise God for Jesus that brought this all together for us.
Date: 2/20/2001 4:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 582    I have to disagree with ThunderHead on her comment about "I have yet to see a true "Christain" convert..it seems to be the ones that were raised in a "religion" that closely paralells Wiccan ritualistic practices to begin with. There was generally no personal relationship established with one Loving Creator in those religions so it is easy to find an answer in the Wiccan beliefs...Just telling it like I have seen it..." end quote. I was raised a Catholic and baptised as one also. I didn't have a choice in the mater. So later in my highschool years I started attending a Church with a good friend and became "saved". I truly believed that this was the right road for me. I defended my God as you have. I saw many unbelievers and tried to "help" them to find God before they found hell. I was just as strong in my beliefs as any Christian who frequents this place. Somewhere along the road I started to see that this wasn't the road for me. That this God I've been worshipping wasn't really who God is at all. I realized that I was mislead. Yes, I believe there is only ONE. We are the Sum of God. But many have different views of how this God is and the "Christian" view was "wrong" for me. I no longer believed in a God who created us all and gave us free will but expected us to live solely as he choses in order to reward us. Demanded to be worshipped and pampered. I don't believe in a God who can Fail to get what he wants. So the truth must be that he did in fact give us free will with the unconditional love of a father/mother.
Date: 2/20/2001 4:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 582    My problem isn't with all the different Gods that everyone worships, because we all know that there is only one God. My issue is with all the different versions of who God is. I no longer hold the faith that God behaves as Christians have been lead to believe. But I strongly feel that if you have no qualms in your faith that is excellent. If you are happy and content and strong in your individual relation with God then nothing can be better! Blessings to All!!...Smiles
Date: 2/20/2001 9:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 19220    Ok. I have tried to tell why I was looking into another religion, but it doesn't seem to matter what I say. I'm getting tired of seeingthat if I had Jesus "truely" in my hear or was a "true" christain then I wouldn't be looking. I understand that everyone has questions about our beliefs and/or religions. I have those same questions. I am looking into the Wiccan religion because I want to feel at peace within myself and I have not found that in christainty. Lots of people have and I personally think that is a wonderful thing. I haven't so that must mean that I am not nor have ever been a "true" christain???? You asked if something wasn't suiting me where I am right now. The answer to that question is Yes. I feel an emptiness that needs to be filled. Am I lacking in faith? No way! I have put my faith into God, completely! I know who I am. I am not looking for myself, per sa. It isn't because I can't handle the "rules" of christanity either. I have not yet chosen another religion, but I am looking. I need to feel peace with whatever I choose. I have 4 children. When they get older and want to search other religions/beliefs, I want them to do so and be happy with whatever they choose. If sounds to harsh, then I apologize. IceQueen420
Date: 2/20/2001 9:51:00 AM    Hi Cheryl: Its Spiraljoy here I'm not at my computer so I'm not logged in but I wanted to reply to your post. I wasn't raised as a christian per say, my great grandparents were spirituatist on my father side and Taino Indians on my mother's side. So I grew up with a mixture of beliefs. My mother began attending the nazareen church and we regularly attended with her but she always maintained a belief in the old ways which we in turn picked up. Then although I was she was not catholic for some reason she had me baptised under that religion. At the age of 13 she gave me a bible which had belonged to my siblings before me and said go and find your way. So armed with my bible I went out to search for my spiritual self. I visited every thing form your baptist church to your hindu temple. But although I spent time in some of these churches none supported the old beliefs that my family had been raised with until I researched wicca. In my family right now the only Christian is my mother, my father is an atheist, my sister is wiccan my two brothers do not classify themselves as anything. The rest of my family is either still spiritualist or practicioners of Voodoo and Yorumba and we do still have some other christians in the family ranging form baptist to Jehovahs witness. So, you see, I never feel from Christianity, I was given the opportunity to find my own way. Now, I find it interesting that you say wicca is just about oneself, for me it isn't like that Yes I've recieved from the Goddess many gifts such as the knowledge that I am a spiritual and blessed being. But I've also given a lot I've change I'm more consious of my treatment of others, myself and the earth, I've made many efforts to change my mode of thinking and try to create a better earth for my daughter and her children and her childrens children. I'm often asked if Wicca is a religion and I would say yes technically it is but it is also a way of life.
Date: 2/20/2001 10:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 11428    The reason I switched is that the Goddess called out to me. More than likely the same way that God has called out to most Christians. Prophacy
Date: 2/20/2001 12:24:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Thankx Firstborn:)! And hiya everyone, i have returned, LOL...Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 12:34:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Hiya Chelle, nice to see you again. Well this is what i have to say, i think that many who do convert have found no I in the word God, God is not about just one person, the whole world is not around one person, but God loves ALL His chilrden. When people see this i think they feel they need to go somewhere else to feel more of an individual then just apart of a group, and we all strive for that, but what i dont understand is, if you form a relationship with the Lord, why break it, because you are not getting what you want? I have always felt that everythign is not about me (you) and that this is something we are all apart of. Some people find themselves converting to Wiccan because they are in control, like i said before, they chose what they want and they chose when they get it. These Gods and Goddesses ill rest assure are true, but they are not divine, and can not promise us anything as God has. I see many get confused about just who God is, in my opinion poly(ism) came into play when people started asking this question, God, Jesus and the Holt Spirit are all and one, many people became confused about this and thought there were differnt Gods, but in reality, there isnt, He is one. He is also very different from these Gods and Goddesses that many admire. God is not insiting on His way, He does many things for a purpose, and i feel one purpose He insits things on a way we can all relate. When people begin to start worshiping Gods and Goddesses, they tend to feel in control of their lives, and they slowly without even noticing begin to almost worship themselves, whhich is a form of Atheism. The belief in no God, fot which you feel you are divine and you make all things happen, soon you form a sense of selfishness and your spiritual growth goes in reverse and you may become bitter to those who worship another power. Thankx for your reply, love to ya, and also, i am very happy where i stand, thankx! Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 12:38:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    IceQueen420, dont worry about sounding harsh, sometimes we become frusterated or simply have to get our point across. But i must say, i still dont understand, if you have complete and total faith, why is there emptiness? Alot of the times we feel this within ourselves because something is missing yes, but why do u say it is the religion and not something around you. I think ur a strong persona and i praise you for having and now raising thse 4 kids, and i am glad you would allow them to express their feelings, but instead of trying to make everyone else happy, think about what u need to do in order to get rid of the emptiness, and maybe a new religion might sound good, but what is it that this new religion has that the other ones doesnt? God can do everything and more then Gods and Goddesses. Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 12:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Hey Spiraljoy, how ya doing? Ok, i see where you are coming from and i am glad you put alot of time and effort into finding your way, but everyon has said somethign is missing from their lives when looking into Christianity, so i am asking you this, what do you suppose it is? I find it very good of you to serach for urself like that, and i see the good in everyone hearts. Now say we throw out every bit of information we know, every last thing, what are we left with? Were left with a choice, if we put everything together, some things fit the puzzle and some dont. Now i know Christianity is pretty new compared to alot of old religions, but when you look at thw whole picture, there is only one religion, whether it be a combination or one true religion. But i don know, from experience, both God and the Gods and Goddesess are real, but i must say, do you find the emptiness filled up for the Gods or Goddesses or by its nature to love things? Maybe you can clear that up for me, thankx! Love to ya-
Date: 2/20/2001 12:46:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    11428, the Goddess called out to you, well first if i may id like to ask you a few questions. Why did she call out to you? And why did you accept and leave God behind? I see this more and more, there is more proof of Goddesses and Gods, so people tend to feel more comforatable knowing somethign is there, but God, He works in myterious ways. So one other thing, what do you rhink will happen when you pass over? Thankx, love-
Date: 2/20/2001 12:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 11428    Why did she call out to me, maybe because she saw a lost soul looking for some peace in her troubled life. I accepted and left god behind because he didn't care, he never help me find the peace that I so needed in my life. If I had stayed on that path I might not have been hear to day.The thing is we are not all looking for proof of existance we are looking to make our lived better. And if that means leaving one religion and going to another, well for One the first religion muss not have ment much for you in the first place. I will move on to another life, hopefully on better than this. And I truly hope that my Faith follows me. Prophacy
Date: 2/20/2001 12:59:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    11428, hi there, well i hope i didnt upset you, i wasnt trying to be mean, i was just asking. I dont understand, you felt because u did not get what u wanted, you should look somewhere else? What about being humble, praying. God does care, but when u neglect Him, how can you hear His words? please, do not get offended, i am asking, and ur opinion counts just as much as mine and i am no better then you or the next person, thankx. Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 1:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 11428    The thing is though I was humble I prayed and I did everything I was sapost to do. But I never got any peace. I did look some where else. I believe that others love god and would do anything for him and I respect that because they can do that, but they also have a relationship with him that I have never had with him. But I do have a relationship with the goddess she treats me good give me self confidence, and shows me how beautiful everybody is. All I ask is for the same respect that I give everybody and every religion. And I truly think if we all could do that the world would not be so bad. God Bless and Blessed Be, Prophacy

Date: 2/20/2001 1:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    *good day, Princess!* I see the topic is still being debated.....all I can say is, there are those who believe if we have left the "christian" faith we must not have been "true" christians to begin with. That is presumptous, and wrong. a human CANNOT judge the heart of another.I do not confuse a relationship with the one(s) who created me with religion. I believe religion to be man-made.And though I once believed the bible to be without error, and god's word....I have come to believe that the bible is a collection of stories, written by men, and a history of the jewish people.i also believe the bible was used as a method to control the masses through fear, amoung other things.....and to enforce "morality".which it really doesn't do.now,i can say that people change, idea's change, people grow.i cannot speak for ALL wiccan's, anymore than you could speak for all christians!*smiles*, i had what i believed to be a very comfortable relationship with god (and his son) as i understood his will to be. but even amoung the masses, the members of the church couldn't agree. and when i learned to stop praying for my "gifts" to be removed from me,(surely they had to be "evil"!) and learned to except who & what i am, did i blossom!!!!!these gifts are as much a part of who i am, as my eye & hair color!*smiles*hope, this helps.......
Date: 2/20/2001 1:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 10733    Hi Cheryl well to be honest when I went on my spiritual quest it wasn't that I was lacking something within. You see I pretty much felt complete and this is a good question you ask because I really never gave much thought to it. When I looked into christianity I don't think that the reason I did not become christian was because I was empty of felt that I lack something it was more because I felt that the religion lacked something. If that makes any sense. you see when my mother sent us out to search our own she never said go fullfill yourselves so I was never searching for something to fill a void in my life. I was searching for a way to pray and praise that involved everything I grew up with, I don't think there is anything wrong with the christian religion it has it good points and bad just as any other religion including my own it just wasn't a good fit for me. I think that if I had been searching to fulfill a void in my life then perhaps I would have become christian and I don't mean that in a negative way but I find that a lot of people who have been saved have been saved after a traumatic event in their lives or have been raised in that faith by parents who are devout. I consider myself lucky that I have the parents I do, they have accepted my religious decisions and those of my siblings and that is considering that my mother is now a devout catholic. I hope this makes some since after reading what I posted last time I tell you thats why proof reading is such a good thing..lol..
Date: 2/20/2001 2:19:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    3508, you see you have the answer within you, and ur not letting it out, by saying you dont know and its a big chance, you know something is missing from what u used to believe in, why cant u believe in nature and God? Thankx for stopping by, love-
Date: 2/20/2001 2:23:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    11428, you see there it is! You felt you were lacking a relationship, but y? Religion is not all about perfection, as some think it is, to many people put to much pressure on them by thinking they have to be perfect, God knows you are not perfect and that is why He has given us the right to take sin away, He knows how hard this life is, and that is why He tells us to be humble now, and you will get ur reward later, when i come, and all the people who hurt you will get what they give, He is not vengeful, but justice. To form a realtionship you must think, do i truely believe? I know this is hard, i know, but think of it this way, what did the Gods and Goddesses ever offer you besides what u want, God gives u eternal life and everything else, but that is not the only thing, He is the only one who loves you unconditionly. Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 2:34:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Hey LadySpiritGuide, how ya doing today? Well thank you for ur reply. I must agree about church, i have found that some churches are not about people at al and are not loving as they should be. But yet again, humans, we, run these churches. I was told, that once you receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the sacrament of baptism, that u are forever marked with the seal of God, and that is somewhat a comforting thought. To know you can always go back, to open arms. I have no read the whole bible, but i have the revelations (my fav) and i noticed many things it says are correct today, and it makes me wonder, just how would these men who u say wrote a collection of stories would know of this. I think we are all born with an Esp sort of speak, and that we are given this by God, to tell truth from lie, good from evil. I dont think you are evil, or anyone who believes in the Gods and Goddesses. I think evil lies within hearts of those who take it in, from satan, yes i think there is a satan. That can be debatable, but thats for a later date (wink) your right, another human should not judge others, but i think people do this in a negative way, then u start going into depression and feelings of bitterness, but truth never changes, and none of us know the whole truth, but its there. God will provide that to us, in my heart i think so. I see you did blossom, and i am not bringing you down from that, i am glad u feel the way you do, it takes alot of courage to make urself happy in this world. But- what does Wiccan give u that God cant? I know u know about the genisis, and how God created the earth, ect. If so, where do you think these Gods and Goddesses come into play? Althought i am making a bold statement, what if these Gods and Goddesses were made out of illusion from mistake? I am not saying this is true, cause i have enough reason to believe they are real, in fact i know there real, but what if? Thankx, love to ya! -
Date: 2/20/2001 2:41:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    10733, hey there, good to see you again. Okie, i see what you are saying about the religion lacking something, but that could be of mans error, but why would you take that possibility away. I know for one thing, i was 10, rt after my mother died and i dreamed of Jesus. Now i was no religious and i nevr gave thought to all this, but i was heartbroken by my mothers loss. 2 yrs ealier i did however make communion. I dreamed of Jesus and saw Him, i went to Him, and no movement or speaking occured, we simply talked to telepathy. He invited me to stay, and my mother was standing beside Him. At first i was filled with such warmth and love, and i agreed to stay. But i remember i looked down and seen the earth and my dad and 5 yr. old brother. I said to Jesus(using telepathy) no, im sorry i must go back, my dad and brother need me, he smiled and pointed at me, and i came back. Now, how can i doubt that. You see my beliefs never came from the religion, it came from what was inside and what God had shown me, ever since then i have been through many things, but in the end, i turned out stronger and more able to be myself. I think religion is man-made, but God is not, and He lives in our hearts, souls and mind, and i think He is real. Ever since that dream(experience) i have had many more dreams of Jesus, and He tells me things. I must confess, i know what i know now through Him. I think faith is important, and i think when u really look at it with ur heart instead of through books and what others say, you will find the answer. Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 2:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 11428    What have they given me everything your god has given and more. I am truly sick and tired of people changing my words around. I have love and faith and I am willing to die for what I believe. Just because I believe in something different does not mean that I don't have what you have. I do not want to be perfect ever, and I don't ever expect to be. I just want to be who I am, and happy with it. And the only way I am truly happy is in the Wiccan Religion. Prophacy
Date: 2/20/2001 2:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 19220    I have been tring to make others happy when dealing with religion my whole life. You see thats why now I am looking for me. My husband isn't very religious but will respect any decision I make dealing with it. He has helped me see good points and bad. The reason I say it is religion is because thats where I feel it. I know that may not make to much sense but it's true. Have you ever had that feeling like you left something behind and it was so strong that you went back and looked? Well thats kinda what I mean. As far as my faith, I have faith that there is a God. Many things have happened in my life not to have faith. You see thats the only thing holding me where I am at. I haven't read the entire bible either but from what I have There are things that just don't seem to fit. I don't believe in hell...how could this be with an all loving father?? I don't understand enough about the Wiccan religion to say anything about the God/Goddess. I don't get the whole sin thing....ex..can't be gay but what about all the other sins that are there?? How did you know that christainity was right for you? You got an answer or you felt at peace or right with it right? Thats all I'm looking for.....IceQueen420
Date: 2/20/2001 3:14:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    11428, i will leave ur statement at that because you seem to get upset over my questions, but if that is what suits you so be it. Hiya IceQueen, i understand what ur saying, please all of you, know i understand! I know you feel you have left something behind, but why not look in ur heart instead of religion? Religion in my view brands people and i dont like that, as individuals we should show what we feel. If we didnt learn of everything we know today, then what? we have so many options and that is what confuses people, either way in the end, all of this doesnt matter, what matters is love and faith. Its ur choice, but i just dont know why, and i know nobody will ever be able to answer me, its a question of thought, and i wanted people to see wiht their hearts instead of there eyes. I dont know if that possible anymore, but i do have faith in u guys. I not accusing anyone of being evil or ect. Yes i am happy, and i made this decision on my own, i was not raised religious and i am the most religious in my family. Date: 2/20/2001 3:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 582    Hello Cheryl, thanks for commenting on my reply; however, it would appear that you didn't quite absorb what it was I wrote. I explained already Why I traveled the road I did. I have to strongly agree with IceQueen and her reply to you about this same issue. I don't mean to sound rude either. It just appears as if you aren't truly listening these replies. You may be reading them, but it sounds like while you are reading you are defending your beliefs at the same time. Again I'm sorry but I didn't ask for your beleifs Cheryl. I know them already. In fact, as I've already posted, I've lived them. Thanks again for your time. I understand your need to witness...been there...done that...and chose to leave. Blessed Be...*hugs*
Date: 2/20/2001 3:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Hi Chelle, im sorry if it seems i am not listening, i am, and i am posting something for you to think about. I see that u have traveld this road, and all i asked from the begining was why u left, nobody can answer me straight, and as i have said, there is no answer, just a time of thought. It seems nobody will be open enough to believe what i say, but that doesnt stop me, ive gotten very nasty comments(no here) on my profile..ect..ect. Is that anyway to treat a person? Well anyway, thankx for stopping by, and i feel i have the right to express my opinions in my answers, otherwise i would just be throwing facts at u you already know, what would be the sense? (i might be gone for a while, seems i caught a virus and i aint feeling good, fever and all, yuck :(! Ill try to stay as long as i can, thankx. Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 3:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Id like to take the time to thank all of you for coming here and putting ur opinions up for others to read and comment on. I appricate that. And thank you for not hating me after this debate :)~ Well i leave u with this final thought, but u are free wo comment if u like, with all that is posted here, there is no trith to anything until we realize just what the truth is, and that it lies inside each and everyone of us, whether Wiccan, Catholic, or Jewish. We are all fellow friends in a way, and i am grateful to be apart of this, and asked this question to see the views of others, and i was hoping u might be interested in my views. When we look at the world through our heart it is alot differnt then through our eyes, bcause our heart can love, forgive and and be loyal, our eyes only see what we want to see. So be that as it may, your all special, and i hope we can all co-exist. Love ya all-Cheryl-
Date: 2/20/2001 3:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 10733    You know Cheryl I had a similar experience when I found the Goddess and Wicca. I have taken a chance like you say because I grew up with a totally different set of beliefs intermingled with christianity how could I just throw away everything I believe for something I didn't. What it boils down to is that you have to follow what is in your heart. I can claim to be a christian but it's not in my heart so I would be lieing to myselfl. YOu know my great grandmother died still prayer to her old gods she refused to convert and thought she did outwardly she didn't in her heart. I'm just glad that I don't have to hide my beliefs for fear of persecution as she did.
Date: 2/20/2001 4:05:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    SpiralJoy, thank you for that post, and like i said this was meant for thought, i am happy you have found peace in what u do and believe, and i give u my love and hope that u have a wonderful life and that you will always have a light on ur path to guide you. Love-
Date: 2/20/2001 4:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 582    *Awwww, pats Cheryl on the back...at arms length* I hope you feel better soon. I was sick for a while myself, ingested my share of Echinacea...lol. That stuff is awful going down in liquid form...UGH...cough...anyway. Hope you start feeling better. See you around...*blowing you a hug*...lol.

Date: 2/20/2001 6:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 9713    Hmm...why didnt I believe? Is that what your asking...Why don't you believe in my God and Goddess? Its the same question. I have read the bible, and to me, it sounds like a fable. So if christianity is a bible based religion, and I dont believe in the bible, im not christian. I looked into many other religions, and i geuss it is self fullfilment that is the reason I am pagan. Now, about the rebelion thing, I can't say anything aobut that, becuz thats not the reason I decided to convert. I suppose some people may be pressured from friends, but family can pressure other religions on people too. Hope i was of help Blessed Be,
Date: 2/20/2001 6:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Thankx Forever Yours, ur reply counts alot. I see what ur saying, and i do believe that ur Gods and Goddesses exist, but i only will worship God(Jesus) as my religion. Well sometimes its out of forefillment and sometimes it just feels right, either way do what is best and if u ever need any guidance, you can ask me. God bless-
