My riend told me this one, that when you get a huge major zit (not an entire breakout) If you dab a bit of perfume on it, it goes down a bit. Or, my mom told me this. Boil water then with a cloth or Q-tip dab on the water (but dont burn yourself) and it will make the zit come to the suface ![]() |

First of all, cut out the alcohol. Thats the worst thing for your skin. Use Witch Hazel instead. In the past, I learned from my mom to put toothpaste (yes, toothpaste..lol) on my blemishes. It stings kinda bad for the first minute or so, but for some reason it clears pimples right up. Hope this helps a bit...Thumb ![]() |

I had relatively oily skin when I was younger. From my experience, I can tell you that you are over doing it with the astringants, alcohol, etc. The best product I found was Clearasil daily face wash. Use it with warm(not hot)water. Do not scrub your face, just gently massage the foam into your skin (with clean hands, after splashing your face with warm water, then rinse by splashing the warm water onto your face. Finish by splashing cool(as cold as you can stand it) water on your face(this closes your pores, to keep dirt and residue out). Pat dry with a towel. Do not use any moisturizers, alcohol, etc...just the foaming face wash. Do this before bed, and when you get up. If you feel oily throughout the day, wipe(don't scrub) with a wet cloth (plain water). Too many cleaners will dry you out or irritate pimples even more. Trust me, this simple routine works. The product smells great, too. It leaves your skin soft. Also, remember to keep hair and hands away from face as much as possible(sleep with a hairband in to keep it off of your forehead, not a ponytail, though it will cause broken, split ends), these are also irritants. Hope it helps...oh yeah, wash after any heavy exercise(with the facewash)that makes you sweat, or any sports that involve sand or dirt(softball, beach volleyball, biking, etc.), and do not use anything labled "medicated" it will also dry you out. I hope I have helped you. ![]() |

Oh my gosh Cool Blizzard sounds like you've got the EXACT same problem as me!! I went to the doctor about my skin and he told me he couldn't prescribe anything because I don't have it bad enough. But he told me just to wash my face 3 times a day to remove excess oil and use a moisturizing skin product at night. It's not working for me but you can try it too.... good luck. ![]() |

Don´t use to many medications, because you can realy damage your face, I have heard about people who used them alot, and they have very damaged skin, they even looked like ten yeras older. Just try to stick to one product, one that doesn´t damage your skin and that does work out. Good luck and GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

Many people when they have any kind of acne problems, and or oily skin, they are much to HARSH on their skin. All that scrubbing, and alcohol, or abrasives may keep the oil in check but strips the skin of all MOISTURE. They mistake the concept of MOISTURE with "oil", and don't realize that everybody needs moisture in their skin. Try to find a moisturizer that is oil free (Clinique has several) and use it after cleansing and a thorough rinsing of your skin. Don't over do it it on the astringents and other alcoholic agents. And try to remember to never put your hands on your face, or pick at it, unless your hands are clean and sterilized. Bacteria really is a huge problem if you have oily, acne prone skin. Sounds like you are using TOO MUCH stuff on your face! Have you gone to a dermatologist/your doc? They put me on an oral medication called minocycline, and a topical gel called Erythromycine (this also comes in oral format). You could ask your doc about these meds, or Retin-A. Almost all of them can dry out your skin when you use a lot of them in combination. Might I also suggest Nutrogena Original Formula soap instead of the oatmeal soap + astringent? GOOD LUCK! Bad skin sucks! - Livvie |

When you use your medication you need to make sure that you alson put lotion so it will not dry your skin. You stress gets you pimples also. Don't worry alot. I get one when I start my menstrual cycle. Just make sure if you sweat wipe it off right away. Don't touch your face with your hands, they have germs and will also get you pimples. If you are going to touch your face make sure you wash them first. Good luck ![]() |

IGEA cream lol ...Ya cool, I've also heard toothpaste works well. Usually, an over-the-counter topical medication that has benzoyl peroxide in it clears it up real fast, provided you wash your face with a facial soap cleanser like purpose or neutrogena in the mornings and evenings to keep your skin from drying out. | Date: 2/21/2001 7:24:00 PM Yeah bout the toothpaste, you can use it, but if the acne is swollen and inflamed and/or if your skin is really dry, it might make the condition WORSE. Just trust me on this one, I have acne and I've tried EVERYTHING...with the exception of Tea Tree Oil. I gotz my eye out for that Tea Tree Oil though, I heard it's pretty good...takes out redness and flattens pimples out. |

Hi Cool Blizzard!! =) Heres what I do..every night before bed I take a cotton ball and clean my face with rubbing alcohol. Then I put Oxy on right after that and go to bed. Look at how much Benzoyl Peroxide is in what you use. With my Oxy, when there was 5% I was fine but when I had Oxy with 10% my face was really dry. Also, I try to stay away from foods that make me break out..chocolate, popcorn, buttery foods, ect. Its probably different for everyone. And for the occasion pimple or blemish try using foundation and/or a coverup stick and just blend it in. Then top it off with some powder and you won't even be able to tell its there. Hope this helps ya!! ![]() |

Ooopss, The above post was from me, Mandy284, I'm not logged in yet. But also I wanted to tell ya, my mom has New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage stuff. Whenever I have a pimple (thats alway open) and I really need it gone, I put that stuff on it and leave it there overnight then peel it off in the morning. It really helps!! It takes the redness away and probably as fast as 1 or 2 days the pimple is gone. I try not to use it a lot though, because sometimes a new pimple will come back in the same spot a few days later which sucks. But I use that for emergency pimples. I mainly use coverup for the lil ones. Also, becareful what you wash your face with. One time I washed my face with this body scrub thing and the next day my forehead broke out really bad. Okay okay, I'm gonna stop going on and on and end this post. Mandy284 |
| Date: 2/23/2001 11:54:00 AM From Authorid: 26139 I have very sensitive skin, so most astringents dry out my skin to the point where it hurts. I use Buff Puffs. They have a gentle soap already in them. You just wet them. It also removes dead skin and black heads. For a moisturizer, I use St. Ive's Facial Cream. It's awesome!! And the key thing is a little cover-up stick called "My Spots Are Concealed". There is nothing else like it. It completely covers everything and makes your skin look flawless! Hope this helps! mom-to-be |

This is going to sound really gross and bizarre too, but.....When I was in boot camp we couldn't have any type of skin care products other than a regular bar of soap, due to lack of room. Many of the girls, including myself, would take a small amount of toothpaste and dab it on (not rub it in) our pimples before bed. In the morning, you wash it off and the pimple is dried out and almost totally gone. ![]() |
