FOUL PLAY IS SUSPECTED IN FIRE DEATH A body was found in the burning room.
A woman;s body was found in a charred downtown apartment yesterday, police investigators suspect foul play in her death. The woman was found by firefighters who responded to a 12:25 p.m. blaze. The fire was in Kukui Plaza's Ewa Tower at 1225 Nuuanu Ave. Homecide Lt. Gary Dias said police believe foul play was involved in the woman's death. He would not say if she died before fire engulfed the apartment. Firefighters reportedly dound the woman's body on the sofa within the apartment. Police have no suspects and have made no arrests. The city Medical Examiner's office is expected to release the cause of death after an autopsy today. The office did not release the woman's name this morning. A yound man, apparently a relative of the victim, had to be restrained by police at the building entrance as he was told of the death. He arrived after firefighters were battlilng the blaze. Residents on all floors expect the 12th returned to their apartments by 2:30 p.m. Firefighters estimated damage to the building at $5,000 and to its contents at $5,000.
NOTE: The name of the murdered lady was Kyong Suk Clancy. She was around 47 years of age, and ran a Bar on Pauauhi St. in Honolulu. She was Korean, and there was never any additional mention of what happened to the case. In Hawaii, it appears that if certain ethnic or racial people are murdered, or missing, very little seems to be done about it. This lady was my previous girl friend for eitht years. I broke up with her when I married a lady I met in the Philippines. We remained friends becasue as soon as I was married, I told her it was someone I had just met and that it was not done while we were togeather. I want someone to help me find out who murdred her. The person who had to be restrained by the police was her brother. My question is, why did he show up while they were fighter the fire? He did not stay with his sister, so why was he around that time of morning? My guess is that he wanted money for drugs and when his sister would not give it to him, he probably hit her with something in the head. I do not believe he intended to kill his sister but drugs will make you do strange things. Her nickname was Jeannie. Anyway, she has people in Richmond, Va who came over and carried her body to Richmond to rest. I believe her brother is still wondering around in Honolulu. On the 20th of Aug 1997, I wrote a letter to the City Prosecutor of Honolulu, Hawaii (Mr. Peter Carlisle) inquiring as to the status of the case. The answer was still unsolved.
My life has been bothered by the death of Jeannie. Often I think that if we had not broken up, she perhaps would still be alive today.
