hmmm, well personelly I'm from colorado, and trust me they take every threat or the thought of a threat seriously, recently we just had like three students at one of the middle schools arrested for "Plots" but I think there just needs to be more awareness. maybe once a month in one class the class just needs to have a heart to heart talk, it helps. i don't agree with the lock downs though. ever since columbine we've been in a partial lock down and it does nothing, we've done everything to keep the doors open. lol, basically I just think that the lines of communication need to be opened ALOT more. this way troubled teens can be spotted before it's too late. ![]() |

Many times nothing will be done until something happens. All I know is that change has to start somewhere. Petition your school in regards to more safety measures, call on parents to get involved, or maybe even contacting your local newspaper about what is going on. Make people aware. ![]() |

I think that this is an issue that should be delt with at home first. Parents today don't take action, responsibility, or any concern for their childrens actions. I do not think that the school systems should have to be have to worry about the students safety. If the parents would take some inititive and teach their children what is wrong and what is right, we wouldn't be in this pardicument. It is illegal to spank your kids. That is ridiculous. I don't believe in beating a kid, but sometimes a firm smack on the butt is needed. This would keep the kids in line from day one. If not further down the road everyone wonders what went wrong. LACK OF DICIPLINE!!!! I put 95% of all the trouble with todays youth is the parents fault. THat is just my opinion. -J.D. ![]() |

I agree with JD. It needs to start at home. Parents today have no clue what thier kids are doing. I see it here where I live, the kids are walking the streets at all hours of the night with no where to go and no where to be. That no matter how you look at it leads to trouble. Parents don't pay attention to thier kids anymore. They look for attention within thier circle of friends and if they meet up with the wrong crowd it means trouble. I also think that parents are raising thier children with too much materialism. You have to have $100 jeans to go to school or you get picked on by the other kids. I was always taught that you don't pick on others for thier differences............Azairyia ![]() |

As a Safety Volunteer at our elem.school here I need to tell you that many parents are trying to teach children no violence but no matter what we do there will still be violence because children live what they learn at home. We have a few students that have anger problems and those children get a little more from me as I try to teach them violence will get them no where but in jail or the grave yard. I am sorry you have to see what you see but believe me a lot of adults are trying to help. Maybe you can volunteer to help younger children so that by the time they reach High school you may have made a good difference in their life. Stormchaser ![]() |

I dont think it is right for some teenager to be picked on all the time until they get to the point to where they want to shoot up their school. But I also know that no matter how bad things get its no reason to kill people. In a million years I would never resolve my problem with a gun. |
