i have been to church about 5 times in my life, and that has never happened to me. If people make fun of you at church, they are VERY WRONG TO DO SO! If it is a church then they have no right to criticise you for not being baptised. It is true it's not your fault. Keep writing ~GodLifter~ ![]() |

Yo JD, Welcome to the Clan of the Unaccepted. Sorry dude, I'll be serious now...I do know what you are speaking about. I myself have a good concept of what I believe God to be...and most people who know me feel that I'm a deep, spiritual person - yet I do not go to any Church at all. I haven't been to a church for a number of years now, not even to celebrate Christmas or Easter. I haven't picked up a bible in probably ten years. I drink, I smoke, I drive really really fast and LOVE it. Yet I DO care for most people, I do show love to others. I would give a friend (and probably a stranger) my last dollar or shirt of my back...thats just the way I am. I may not fit into the stereotypical mould of what a Christian should be like, act like or look like...nor do I choose to conform to that image. I feel that you probably have a greater understanding of who and what God truly means than many supposed Christians I know. Dude, the relationship with God (if that is what you are seeking) is a personal one, and it is an individual one. Its between YOU and GOD...partnership. Its not really between you, God and a thousand other worshippers. God knows how you feel, he does, and he understands you as you understand him already. I do not get the impression that you are a bad person, or wrong in anyway. I wish you luck my friend. Peace, AGENT SMITH ![]() |

I agree totally with Agent Smith..And I know how you feel..I believe there is a higher power yet I do not attend church. I do not agree with all the hipocracy that comes along with it, and that is what I have seen in the times I have gone. I say keep up the way you are, it is God in the end that will judge you, not everyone else. Trouble :) ![]() |

I don't feel that you are wrong. I believe, and pray to God, he hears me wherever I am. I think that a lot of people who go to church are very hypercritical and very judgemental. I live in a small community, and know quite a few people who fit into this catergory. They turn away from people who don't have the same means of support than them. And don't even take the time to get to know them. I am friends with "both" types, but it upsets me when they are rude to others. I know not all churchgoers are like this, but they do exist. And Agent Smith, you said it all so well. ~Aussie Girl ![]() |

JD, you can worship God in your own way without the organized religion. I was a part of the organized religion and I disagree with it. I was baptised Lutheran and converted to Catholic because my parents baptised me with no intention on teaching me the faith. I did as you did and went out on my own and found and learned one of them. I went with a family so I didn't feel the shunning that you are speaking of. However I have not stepped foot in a Catholic church since the death of a friend of mine that allegedly commited suicide. The priest told her mother that he was only doing her service because he was obligated as a man of the church but that she was not in heaven and would not be received by God because she had killed herself. I was totally apalled by that!! He had no right to say that to her and certainly not at her funeral. I just had this similiar discussion with a gentlemen at my cousins wake this past thursday and he was pleading with me not to give up because of one priest. I have been much happier and so very less confused worshipping and praying to God in my own way than I ever was at church........just do what makes you feel comfortable.....I think your parents did the right thing in choosing not to baptise you, my children are not bastised either, I did this so they would be able to study different religions before making the choice of what they want to follow. I didn't think that it was up to me to choose something so delicate for them.......................Azairyia ![]() |

You know its those who don't want to get to know you,it is their lost, not yours. christian ppl. I believe they do no judging and leave it to the higher power to do that. Go to church be yourself you are always welcome in the lords home, that I know. And for those who you feel threated by. Well smile and wave at them. If they are just curious of the new church goer, they will smile at you and wave back. And if they don't and turn away from embarassment of being caught looking or staring, well you will show them that you have god within your heart more then they would think. besides I believe your in gods house, and the only one you should worry about shuntting you out would be god, and the almighty never closes his doors to anyone. In my opinion, GOD is with his children wherever they are. I don't think that he only resides in a church. If you believe in him and worship him in your heart then he knows this and loves you for it. I think if the people behind the church walls are truly religious then they woud accept you and embrace you as another of GOD's children. He teaches us to love all men NOT just the ones who are exactly like us. Follow your heart and you will not go wrong. I also think that it is much more important for us to be " saved" when we can make this decision ourselves and understand the meaning of it rather then our parents doing it when we have no concept or memory of it. Thank you all. I am glad to see that I am not alone. You have no idea how much better I feel knowing I have some support. Thank you again. Love to all, J.D. ![]() |
