Stories show that Hazel married art director A.Cedric Gibbons after his divorce with actress Delores Del Rio.After her last film,believed to be "The I don't Care Girl", Hazel mysteriously dissappeared. She was born to the Place family as an only child and at age 5, financial problems forced the family into putting hazel into a modeling career.Her Mother's name was Selma and her father's name was George, both believed to be from Astoria ,New York., although her records show she was born in 1924 , in Capetown , South Africa. Hazel ran away from home when she was only 16 years of age.It has been a story told in my family for years, that Hazel had married A.Cedric Gibbons, art director who has died in July 26th, 1960.He was a well renowned art director with over 150 films under his belt in his 30 year career.He is also the one who sketched the statue, now known as the OSCAR for the Academy Awards. We have no knowledge of her whereabouts and would very much like to find her.If you have any information on Hazel Brooks or Cedric Gibbons who worked for MGM studios, Please help me locate her.She was last known to have lived in L.A., California. Why we are looking for them: I have no grandparents left and my father has passed away.His sister, my aunt, is the only survivor that we know of.I want to know what happened to my Great Aunt. I want to welcome her into our family, once again and let her know that my siblings are greatly interested in knowing about her.There have always been stories about her and I feel that she is theonly one who can provide the truth.The only memorabilia I have of her is a copy of the movie "Body and Soul" and since I have viewed that movie, I feel a very strong bond to her. I feel that although I do not know her, I love her because she is a part of my heritage and no one is more important than family to me.I want her to know, I am teary eyed when I say, I'm proud of you and I miss never knowing you.
