I heard that Phil Collins saw either a person being drowned or that Phil Collins saw two people from a distance and one person was drowning and the other person didnt help the drowning person. Years later, Phil Collins wrote this song and invited the "killer" to his concert and sung this song to him.........It has been years since I heard of this legend. (wow your bringing up old memories!!) Good post.  |

I saw an interviw with Phil Collins and he said it was just a song he wrote and all the rumors associated with it were untrue. Check www.snopes.com, they usually have the low down on urban legends.  |

Some peopl sya it is about a man that watches another man drown, and doesn't help him. That was not true. Phil Collins publically said that it is about his ex wife. People make up stuff just so we have something to talk about. LOL  |

| Date: 4/22/2001 7:51:00 PM this is the truth: this song was written because when phil was younger he saw 2 boys fighting and one of the boys got pushed off a dock and drowned...years later phil invited the guy that killed the other boy to his concert and sat him right in the first section and sang this song right to his face and that night the guy went home and killed himself. AND THAT IS THE TRUTH ! |
