Ive heard of it working but Dr. Dean from the radio said that its not good as a long term diet because it could affect your health. then again i heard dr. adkins on the radio saying that there are no health risks. I myself could lose about 10 pounds around the mid section but this site keeps me achieving that goal unless someone comes out with a diet that includes reading and answering post as a major part of their excersise routine.....el toro. ![]() |
| Date: 3/14/2001 5:23:00 AM I did this diet...as far as loosing weight, I did...lost 40 lbs in about 2 months....BUT....it also messed with my sugar levels so bad that I am now hypoglycemic...and THAT is not fun....not worth the weight loss. |

I am on a 30 carb a day diet. It works! But it fepends on your body type. Some people it doesn't work for. It does get hard at times. Try cocoa powder (has 1 carb) in your coffee. It REALLY helps with those sweet cravings. And heavy whipping cream (0 carbs) is a GREAT replacement for creamer. ![]() |

As for long term affects, I have been on the diet for a couple years and I am doing fine. Except when I go off it then I have A LOT of problems (That's b/c of me, not the diet) ![]() |

I heard that it works great. Only downfall is that once you start eating carbs again, the weight comes back in full force. So you either stop eating carbs forever, or in low moderation. ![]() |

I think the zone is a good diet???? lumi what is it EXACTLY?????? I tried the adkins, even bought like tons of food for it, but it was making me ill, and I didn't think it could be that healthy if ya could never eat cards again I lost like 6 pounds in 10 days, but really that was for lack of eating, not the diet.....I mean you can only eat so much bacon and cheese LOL ![]() |

namnik, I would rather do Suzanne Somers version of it. She has the books out. I did it for a while and just got out of the habit of doing it. On her diet you don't have to give up carbs.....you just seperate them. You choose whether or not you want to eat a carb meal or a protien meal. So you can have the mashed potatoes and the chocolate you just don't mix it with fat. Of course the less carbs you eat the more you will lose. Her diet has two parts to it. Seperating the carbs while you are losing the weight and then working a portion of them back in so that you can maintain the weight. I believe in the second half of the diet after you have lost the weight that you wanted. She teaches you that if you eat a meal that has steak and a potato, to eat three meals without mixing the two together to balance it out. Then you can eat it again. I loved being on it because I used to eat my carbs in the morning. So I would have chocolate frozen yogurt for breakfast with hershey's syrup and fat free crushed granola. Then I would eat the proteins the rest of the day. Look into her diet, I think its easier to live on than Atkins...........I also wrote a post about this called sugar is fattening?.......Azairyia ![]() |

I heard on TV that "Dr.Adkins" is not even a doctor and that he is getting sued for being missleading. I have tried a lot of diets too and most of them don't work.If you want one that will work, talk to your doctor. He can make a personalized exercise and food diet for you that will be most effective...hope this helps....Lynn112 ![]() |
