i totally think that uniforms take away your individuality. it makes it so that kids cant express them selves and be unique. i think i would move to another school if they started uniforms. plus, i think they're ugly....twinkletoes |

Clothes are not a significant part of individuality.I think that uniforms would not stop teasing. They should not wear uniforms. |

If someone's entire individuality lies in their appearance, then they must be a shallow person.Uniforms do take away from individuality a bit, but not all of it. |

There have certainly be studies that show that things such as violence and the like are dramatically decreased in a school that has a dress code. However, this is only because most problems in school arise from differences. Take away our individuality and of course we'll have less to gripe about. The question is really this. What's more important? Having less fights at school or enabling the youth to cultivate themselves as individuals? I can tell you one thing. One way is certainly going to lead this country down the drain. I don't even think I have to say which one. Later, great post! |

Defininately !! I am against school uniforms . Unless the school is a private school , they have no business telling us what our kids can wear!! |

I happen to like uniforms, and the reason being that kids should not be judged by what brand they are wearing, they should be judged by what type of person they are.....If a child does not wear the correct style, they are not liked, and I think that is disgusting!!! My son attends a private school, and will start wearing uniforms next year in first grade, I can't wait!!!! But this stems from my childhood, I do have to admit that......good post!! :) |

Making a person to wear a uniform does not rob them of any individuality. It gives the person a chance to express their uniqueness in different ways than physically. I go to a school that has uniforms and I don't really mind them anymore. I no longer have to aggonize over what to wear. It also cuts down the costs of clothing that a person has to buy. Just think, you no longer need to buy different clothes for every new week of school. Besides, you don't have to have boring uniforms to wear. Making someone wear uniforms robs a person of as much of their individuality as giving them a different pen to write with. -Universal Traveler- |

When my kids were in school i 'prayed' they would have a uniform code. A lot of families cannot afford designer clothes, and some of the children dont have many clothes to start with so they have to wear the same things over and over, and get made fun of a lot. Individuality can be express in many other ways. If the uniforms makes just ONE child feel like they fit in today then it is well worth it. ***Gail*** |

i go to st.matts..im sure lots of u have never heard of it..(ottawa) hehe anyways, we have uniforms, we just got them this year..they are really ugly and uncomfortable. i wouldnt be so against them if they were just made right, i mean, they not only feel uncomfortable but they are poor quality also..and UGLY!..anyways they dont stop any teasing or promote any "school pride" if anything we had more pride when we could dress the way we want..students were much more enthusiastic and ..sigh..colorful..anyways thats how i feel, thank you |

If your character hinges on your clothing then you are not much of a person(I am not talking directly to you but just to people in general). Show your fancy threads on your own time...School is for learning. There are enough distractions without kids having to worry about keeping up with the latest trends (and parents going broke trying to do it). Just my two cents. Love and peace:) |

I think there would be alot less competetion in schools, nobody would have to worry about indecent clothes, or anyother improper type clothing for school. So I for it. ~kari~ |

the uniform makes people a part of something...it makes the students feel belonging to the school and can boost their culture/pride in the school for sports etc. It also keeps them calm and orderly, or at leasst thats what i hear.. |
